I second that.

It's hard on the eyes.

what would you guys suggest? im thinking lighter shades of each color, with a black background so it stands out a lot.
Marvaddin wrote:Why are La (57) and Ac (89) still ou of their normal places?

ok, ill hold a vote. guys please post saying if you want La and Ac to stay where they are or move. please bold your vote or i might miss it. Majority rules

No need to vote, their place IS there. Can you show me a periodic table where they are where you put them?

I think it would look better with the two elements in the table, then use the two extras as a connection

Each B column will give a bonus +1? Biggest no man land I ever saw, but its a good idea.

This screams trench warfare.. I also like it.

see PM, and yes that's good, massive nomans land will make for interesting games and slow progression of forces, as well as some more tactical situations as you try to match up with your opponent

See PM about colors, and don't over do it, that would look worse

Ok: the transition metals are going to be a no-mans land. it is a great location, because it is surrounded by continents and is very large.

I think if we work out the borders right, the No-mans land could be very similar to an actual battlefield. I am going to go look at some maps of military battles that took place during WWII when there was a lot of trench warfare and struggle for land. i am hoping that that will give me some ideas on how to arrange the borders in the nomans land.

Just think what kind of war there would be if one person owned the alkali metals area, another owned the area at the bottom of the map, and the third owned the right side of the map, with no-mans land broken up between the three. that would be an awesome fight!

actually, civil war maps are looking more helpful. does anyone know a good site that has good overhead maps of how land battles played out during any war?

Edit: i found a great site with maps of many battles like this one (part of the battle at Antietam):

From http://posix.com/CWmaps/

im trying to get my mind around how actual battlefields were set up and where boundaries were that added to the tactical challenges of the war. im hoping i can make no-mans land into a great tactical battlefield, no matter what direction you are advancing from.

i am thinking that with the two big continents on the right side of the map, they will be made up of many small, easy to hold areas that would act as sort of like a starting point and would add to teh strategy. there would be no additional bonuses for each place.

This could turn into some good fun, maybe we should try the spiral periodic
table next. That one would be interesting too.

The image is bad because its from http://www.meadowhead.sheffield.sch.uk/meadowhead/faculties/science/science_home_page.htm, and yep its
a borrowed image.

a 120 territory map just blows my mind... no nuetrals ever... so much to take over... (think 39 army bonus for controlling everything but 1 territory... not even including the family bonus')

it would take so long!!!!

i can't wait

the color version looks great... it just needs an interesting background or pictures... it just doesn't catch my eye and would be boring to play on for so long...

Err, i woudl prefer if we got input on the visuals before the final stage, it'll make the process go faster if we critique on what you have as you go

when he says final, he means its the final work in progress. The one I was posting was our preliminary one, then we switched over to his images, because all I have is paint.
