My club's name is American Freestyle Karate, but we practice more then just karate. However, we do have a lot of influence from Kempo Karate.

Taekwondo, Kungsoodo (Karate), a little Kung Fu and Aikido. I'm primarily a kicker and puncher.

So why does your art/school seem like the best fit for you?

I'm tall and like to keep people away from me in a fight so kicking works well for me. I like the flexibility and strength that I've developed from it as well.

I prefer Jiu Jitsu, judo, and other ground based styles because I can use my size and strength to keep them pinned so I can use my neck crank/suffocation submission to tap them out. Standing up, even though i have long arms, I tend to get knocked around, or out. :? However, when starting from a standing position in grappling, even the black belts have a lot of trouble taking me down thanks to my size, strength (picked up another guy who had a triangle choke on me into what almost turned into a powerbomb, until he let go :( ) and center of gravity, they are the ones that end up under me, even if they were able to pull off a throw.

Other than just becoming a better fighter overall, I like the endurance it's given me. I tend to move around a lot in fights to keep my opponent unbalanced, it's not really a problem in short fights but if the fight is long, I need that extra endurance to keep myself going at the same rate.

Any formal training I have has been brief and far between, no particular style or system. But I love to kick, mostly because is requires a lot of dedication to learn how to properly land such blows as a roundhouse kick (not very impressive, but I imagine one to the gut will cause most people to back up if not stop them cold), especial in coordination with punches and other moves.

Mostly, me and by buds will freespar whenever we are in the mood.

If it counts, I just moved up to 6-0 Boxing with my friends. All by TKO. We're all pretty serious, though only one of us has been trained. I think I have a target on my back....

BTW, NEVER drink an AMPED energy drink before a fight. Ewww!

I once danced to 'Kung-Fu Fighting'.

But it was over pretty quickly, fast as lighting in fact.

Does your suite make you stronger, faster? Is it simply for armor? Or are you some form of modern Samuri trying to scare the heck out of your opponets?

Well thats a zero pressurized suit used to traverse airlocks and survive harsh other wroldy conditions. Instead of using my suits powers, I prefer to shoot people with the shotgun he's holding in his hands.

From what I've seen (which amounts to not a lot) it seemed to have continuous series of circular punches and which made for lightning quick hand attacks. The guy that I knew looked like he had more in common with a Wing Chun Kung Fu stylist than a Muay Thai or American Kickboxer. I'm probably wrong like I said it's just from my observation of one guy.

Sorry we're on a slightly smaller scale. I could only take twenty or so armed men at my peak. ;)

Wing Chun Kuen. A style of kung fu from southern China. My club teaches the Hong Kong version. I have the great honour of having played chi sao with grandmaster Ip Chun twice, in 1998 and in 2001.

Wow that's impressive. Grandmaster Ip Chun, is he a descendant or relative of Yip Man? (I'm guessing that the Y could be a transliteration thing.)

No, that's me, armed with a rapier wit and artful use of hyperbole. ;)
