I'm probably wrong like I said it's just from my observation of one guy.Juan_Bottom wrote:That's a style of kick-boxing right? Or am I way off?Anarkistsdream wrote:Black Belt - Chinese Kenpo
Chinese Kenpo was derived from the Chinese peasants during the Chinese/Japanese war, for the most part. The Chinese were impressed into the army, but were not given weapons or armor.
Kenpo is basically the quickest way to incapacitate an attacker with the least amount of movement on the part of the defender. We learn many eye gouges, throat and knee strikes, groin shots. Basically a nice variety so that no matter what armor the attacker was wearing, there was a move to hit an un-armored section.
The weapons styles were based on items that farmers would have in the fields, so mostly escrima, kamas, and bo staffs.
Of course, I am interested in samurai too, as most martial arts students are, so Kendo was the most perfect fit for me. I have been number one in my state a few times but never passed regionals.
