HK, as stated before, is an evil bastard but is loyal to Revan. So whatever side Revan is on HK is likely to be there with her/him. Revan can choose to be on whatever side they like and select one of three sabers to use and prepresents the jedi class they have chosen. Now later on in the game you can change your saber colour to whatever you like, but in a way it says something about your personality. As Ice said, Dark Jedi's weild red sabers, so I think Animo is scum. He may have been good at some point, but I don't think he is now.
What I'm wondering now is though, if animo comes up scum we might have to consider lynching PCM tomorrow. But I think atleast one of them must go now.

Would it make any sense for Animo's role to also be lynchee, and would anyone have to role of lyncher?

And just so you know, in the game Revan's morality affected all the characters he/she travelled with. So if Revan is evil then soon a bunch of other players could turn aswell.

Note from a non-participant... you're thinking about KOTOR 2, where the lead character's choices affect everyone else. KOTOR 1 had 1 spot where your dialogue choices could determine 1 character's choice for dark or light. And it's Bastila. So the only person you have to worry about going evil if Revan goes evil is Bastila. In 1, HK's already evil.

There is one other explanation I guess.. he could have his old lightsaber back from when he was a dark jedi before the republic captured him. I don't see why he would though?

Let me propose you this- In a game this size, there's BOUND to be a cop, right, or at least another watcher/tracker, If there's a cop/ tracker please target me, if there is a watcher, please target icedagger, and I want doc protection if there is one please.

Not a good idea. He's practically begging the power roles to come out of hiding.

I'm guessing this Bastila guy made his choice before the game started. This could potentially lead to two different games being possible, and he might have gone bad. Just a theory, though.

HK-47 is pretty much inherently evil but loyal.
