I think that it doesn't really matter. Assuming you don't point dump or gain points from point dumping, your rank is a decent description of your current skill level (at least in the types of games you play).
The players that gained, say, 300 points during this point dump --- If they play 100 more games, their score will drop back to about where they were before they gained those points, because they will get a point or 2 less for every win and lose a point or 2 more for every loss.
If they maintained or bettered their score, then that means they would have went up in rank without gaining the points in point dumping.
As for Spikeboat, if he wants to climb back the ranks, he will. Because his skill level is better than his current rank, and it will reflect that in the long run.
This game was once fun, but the necessity to log in every day finally took its toll on me.
Since being banned, I have spoken to spikeboat. The punishment which they have given him for deranking is grossly exaggerated
this was his comment to me:
spikeboat wrote:1) it is a victimless crime besides the person doing it... (i essentially committed suicide... why ban me)
2) I was clueless that it was so serious bc i knew of other high ranks who had done it in the past
3) If it is so serious... it was a first offense (i didnt get warned, just banned)
4) i was drunk and let someone else take part in the painful pt loss as well on my computer
5) out of all of the people polled, only 3% said that i should be punished, and about half didn't think it was that serious at all and the one's more vocal in the topic about me, said i should be WARNED...
6) by blocking me from accessing my inbox and not responding to my e-tickets, they have effectively kept me from arguing my case...
basically i had zero clue that this was so serious, i think the punishment nowhere close to fits the ?crime?, and by blocking me from even seeing what they had a problem with their actions are tyrannical at best and i wish to be reinstated fully and immediately.
It seems like a ban is a pretty harsh punishment for a (correct me if I'm wrong) first time offense. A consistent case of point dumping can become a problem, but for Spike this is the first time it happened. Therefore, when most of Spike's opponents joined the first couple of games against him, they didn't KNOW he was going to deadbeat, and they were expecting competitive games.
To the few players who did take advantage of some "free" points, shame on them. But like I said before, these players will have their proper rank after finishing another 100 games due to the scoring system.
As for the players who will lose some more points if/when Spikeboat works his way back up the ranks, I will use the same argument...they will get those points back after completing enough games.
So, at the end of the day, CC is barely affected by this point dumping situation. Clearly Spike's judgment was affected the night of his point dump, and surely he'd think twice before doing it again. I'm a believer in second chances, and CC has given second chances to other players who point dumped (non-intentionally) in the past. Please help me understand why this scenario is different.

I've seen other players do similar things as spikeboat and receive no punishment whatsoever. Although I'm not supporting his particular method of point dumping... I will say a ban is more than what would be necessary.
My stance on 1 vs 1s have always been the same- it's a game type that can be abused by any player at any time, multies or otherwise. Spike's case is just another one of many ways for abuse. I do believe that they [the mods] have to stand their ground and make an example of a player to show there is a zero tolerance for this type of behavior.
With threads claiming admins and mods not doing their job to properly facilitate this site, I don't blame them for their decision. It is unfortunate, however, that it had to be Spike, although we've had our differences, he was a good player and I wish it hadn't been him. I could name off a long list of players whom truly deserve it.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be a punishment, but even multis are able to buy back premium. He merely deadbeated a whole bunch of games... it seems the lesser of the two to me. Strip his premium sure... I'm not sure a ban would be the solution when other players get how many warnings/chances?
I'd sooner see zero tolerance in other areas than point dumping.

I agree- but if I had used Manimal, then I would have taken it off topic. I suppose I just did- but we are talking about Spike's punishment... how will a point reset be a deterrent ? He's a cook. How is stripping premium effective if it's one's last hoorah before they exit the site? What is an effective punishment to deter this type of behavior now or in the future?

It's certainly not fair to Spike- but it has to begin somewhere. We can blame the admins for not setting an example earlier- but we can't flaw them for trying to right the ship.

I'm a little confused; I figured stripping premium would be a more than adequate enough punishment, especially when in comparison of what happens to multis (some don't even get a point reset, just premium strip). Maybe others are rich, but I know when I'm working for $8 an hour and attending university and living off Wendy's caesar salads and chili for food... I'm not going to throw away $25 if I can help it.
Let the kid buy back his premium I say... don't ban him from the site.

There are a lot of discrepancies with their [admins] verdicts in the past- comparing Spike's punishment to them would certainly say it's unjust.
tbh I am glad CC mods finally grew a pair. If they let spike back on they will only be bowing down again. They needed to send a strong message. They did just that. Surely people will think before they derank next time.

P.S. Jack in the Box is better.
I agree, Bruce. I'm glad they finally started doing something about it, and now they will stick to it.
P.S. Bruce how dare you, what happened to Taco Bell? It was special...haha
I stopped eating there when I learned of the beef recall couple of years ago- it you want to call it beef.
Ohh- to stay on topic: Free Spike
Nothing personal against spike, but if they free spike, then it was all for not. They need to hold their ground on this one. It is not like he played doodle ass games to lose rank, he just deadbeated a ton. That is far worse if you ask me.
It is more than likely illegal to strip people of their premium membership. Unless terms and conditiob's have been agreed to by both parties! Where are our rights?

He broke the rules. Just like a cheater he was stripped!

It doesnt specify that point dumping could have you striped off your premium!! This is a illegal practise that CC has employed and that cant be refuted. They can kick him off the site but they must refund his premium. Anything less would be illegal and aginst consumer rights in any country!

Taken from the rules page.....
Unwritten Rules
Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games, intentional deadbeating, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts. - The punishment is not listed, but they can choose as they see fit. Personally I like the tough stance. It sucks it was Spike, but that is how it is. They need to keep it tough.
As Brucewars has just pointed out, intentionally deadbeating, or throwing games, detracts from the Conquer Club gaming experience, and it not tolerated.

And where does it state that you will lose your premium membership if you break any of these rules?

The Rules wrote:Conquer Club reserves the right to suspend accounts and cancel Premium Memberships, with or without warning, of those players who are deemed to have violated the rules.
