new players joining public games

I thought that "?" players were not able to join public games. However, I keep joining a game and then a "?" shows up and they often miss turns. Just curious as to how I can avoid them other than by playing private games. Thanks!

they arent allowed to join team games... no one said anything about public games

There isn't really a way to avoid them other than private games. You could install the Waiting Games GM Script and only join games with players above ? that only have one spot left.

But ? need love too. We were all ? at one time.

The only restriction is that they can't play team games, public free-for-all games are allowed.

I'm not sure about private team games (I haven't come across anybody trying this yet), but they cannot join public team games as a new recruit.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, I think this may only apply to freemium new accounts. I think that premium new accounts are allowed to play team games from the get-go, but I'll do some asking and get back to ya

I believe no ? can join a team game, but I think they are able to start them.

I'm sure that when a ?=new recruit search for the actual team game number using Game Finder, they can join it.

I for one am happy to have anyone join a game I'm in - just because they're new here doesn't mean they can't play. I first played RISK in the 70's but only joined CC a few months ago.

But I do wish that when people join a game they would bloody well turn up to play it.

LMAO, are you serious. If newbs cannot join public games, what are they supposed to join?
Making their own games with pw's is not possible for non premiums. And a lot of players hesitate to join games with "?" players.

i guess you joined with rank... and what kind of games did you join when you first started playing, since you think newbs can't join public games? i just had a friend join, and it was funky trying to get him into a few doubles matches with me. we had to finnagle around more than a bit to get him in, but it eventually worked. it was kind of difficult, so i can see how a "?" would be discouraged from joining team games... however, if you can't join public games as a "?", and you can't start private games as a "?", how would you ever get into any games?-0
