I've given you one of my favorite characters from the novels. Elizabeth Shelby. I didn't like her role on TNG when she was the Borg Expert and became Riker's XO after Picard was taken but as Calhouns first officer on the Excaliber the character was better developed (she eventually married Calhoun and had her own ship to captain)

Warlord-I gave you Captain Harrison who took over the Enterprise from Kirk. You might remember his character from Generations when he looked lost and out of place when the Nexus struck his ship. According to the novels he grew into one of the most decorated captains in the fleet, running countless deep cover missions and commanded the Enterprise for close to 30 years before he was replaced by Captain Sulu (daughter of George Takai's character)
