Forum roundup.
Lately, along with a few friends, I spent some time enjoying some Sergio Leone classics, so who are the Clint Eastwoods and who are the Gian Maria Volontès in the forum recently?
Of course, this thread would be nothing without a contribution from our Blitzy. Once again he manages to think up a list where, surprise surprise, he is at the top, in his medals ideas thread. Come on Blitzy; is there no end to your talents? Meanwhile in his usual inimitable style, Blitzy opened a discussion to cut the number of tourno. medals given out, then cut a dash congratulating all and sundry on their promotions…you gotta love the way he manages to walk that fine line… I think Blitzy just has to win the ‘Tuco’ congrats for the week.
Talking of Tournos a quick and genuine congrats to Night Strike for organising a serious competition in the CC Olympics 2008, and a further congrats to all those clans who entered…shame on you clans who avoided putting your points where your mouths are.
‘The dice are awesome’ thread tried to get off the ground recently (interestingly had few takers) but the conversation quickly goes off track, with Blitz explaining enigmatically
only the invisible realm lasts forever
Georgerx7di responds
don't forget about plastic, that lasts forever too.
But you forgot George! What about our Blitzy's peerless unrelenting talent for thinking up lists where he just happens to be at the top! But it does have to be said; you can’t fault a man for being just so damned good can you.
An interesting little thread was started about the unfairness of Busted Multis by a Major Lindax. With superb complete lack of shame, *manimal stepped in supporting him, I see. With little more interest, the thread was last posted with a great comment from our sometimes Conq. Scott.
Not only do you lose more points if they win, in Mystique's case, he also rates you with all 1s.
I think this makes Mystique this weeks ‘Ramón Rojo’ without a doubt…
On the subject of multis, it seems there has been a rash of them recently. So I took a quick stroll down into the Cheating and Abuse section….I was amazed to see an old and often partner of mine, Army of Achilles accused by jonesthecurl, no chance jonesy. Good old Bobajob stepped in with a great post about heading for some style of game or other…reminded me of the undertaker in a Fistful of Dollars! I see punky206765 has been busted, again, thanks to Bruceswar for tipping me the nod there so I could exit some team games the punk had signed up to. Being the sort of guy who believes one is judged on the company one keeps I would not have appreciated his amity. The congrats for the most obvious multi has to go to the multiple named tropical1 through 7. What is it with these guys? Are they so very lazy…or are they just stupid?? I think the latter, but a special ‘Vincent Aiello’ congrats to Lumpy for spotting that in double quick time.
Max, whom I mentioned in the last roundup seems to have been somewhat bad. Our Brucie was hot on his tail and we had threads locked, unlocked and closed. A bunch of senior hoccifers got it in the neck and the whole thing erupted into a general melee akin to my Rugby club on a visit to a well known house of ill repute in Paris as the Police burst in! I have to pass a congrats to all those players for choosing their friends so wisely.
Many months ago sickmaniac posted a thread asking a legit question as to whether he was wrong. It seems the oppo then reacted by giving him one star (boo hiss from the audience) so Sicknote posted the details and got some worthy responses, if a little brief. I missed this little nugget first time round and boy am I glad I didn’t miss it the second. Now you have to remember, sicknote effectively ensured that he and another player would not win through what seemed to be a daft move. Now to start with Firthy jumped in with the explanatory ‘yes’. Great, so the debate was not yet started, just warming up. DM jumped in with a classic piece of advice:
Just leave him a neg saying:
"Up yours homo fag, this is a neg for negging me. You fag." That'll sort this whole mess out in no time.
Mighty lemonade took another stance, pointing out that this is based on a game called Risk, good point. A few others pop in and offer advice, but I just loved this from greenoaks (that player of the avatar that borders on soft porn)…
bottom line is you made a dick move and your opponent has left the rest of us a warning about you. this site could use more people like him.
….says the player with 147 points!!!
Then in steps Warsteiner, all full of advice and seriousness, but all I could think of is JR's signature so took little heed…however, I was interested in sicknotes reaction to greenie.
Like you've never made a dick move... How's that horse you're on? Pretty fucking high, isn't it?
Well about 147 points high as of today, to be precise. Anyway, moving on….Mighty lemonade jumps back in and it seems to be degenerating, with JACKAZZTJM, never letting us down, saying:
maybe hell get rid of the neg if u meet up with him in the creepy country of "who gives a shit" and f##k him in his cc lovin ass
Well, after these words of wisdom, all goes quiet for 5 months! Then, for some odd reason, this old thread is resurrected. This time round, however, some senior ranks get involved....and boy do they let themselves down:
Failed Integer steps up with the following in response to Mighty Lemonades post.
Are you retarded? Calling someone a douchebag for leaving a suicide feedback? Of course this game isn't based on friggin' risky moves. It's based on odds and playing probability - not trying to get "lucky" and take RISKS. Huge friggin' difference
Ok, not too bad, but then with a stroke of haughtiness straight out of Yul Brynner and ‘The King and I’ hiddendragon says:
Ones tactics are a personal affair...Sadly though your tactics proves why you sit with your lowly rank...It isn't right for me to say you were right or wrong all I can say is my strategy would have been different...That is the difference between us and why we each hold the ranks we do...
Ooohhhh…goodness me, nice swipe there…just make sure your handbag doesn’t catch on the door handle on the way out dear.
Now as you all know, the munificent and bountiful KLOBBER is on forum holiday, so I am eschewing saying anything derogatory as he has no chance to respond….however…this I just could not believe! I was reading the n00b farmers thread so did a quick check on Klobby without his Circus games… And actually the farmer of farmers does have to be him, his totals were:
Rank Points
Cook -999
So his stats show that without the rampaging he does within Circus Minimus, and with a total of -999 points from all his other games he is actually (roll of drums) the 2nd Alangary!!!
Congrats Klobby!!
And finally….. What’s with the turtles appearing everywhere in members avatars???? For a moment I thought Moses had been in! However, there were some great variations on a theme, with Incandenza getting the nod from me for the best interpretation. It must be said though, that the girls images of H2SY and, of course, that sweetie, clapper, were interesting as well, even so, I must congratulate a personal friend who, when I asked for a some recipes not normally served at dinner sent me this as something relative to the epidemic.
Ingredients: 1 turtle, approx 80kg 28kg veal knuckle 9kg beef 2.5kg ham 4 onions, Cayenne pepper 20 peppercorns 1.5kg butter Winter savoury thyme basil, marjorma1 carrot 2kg flour Madeira Lemon to serve 10 cloves 30g salt
Method:
Hang the turtle up by its fins, cut off its head, and hang it up overnight. Eviscerate, and reserve green fat. Cut the turtle into pieces and simmer until tender. Remove the meat and reserve. Make a rich stock with the other meats, vegetables and spices. Sweat the herbs in the butter, add flour to make a roux, add 45 litres of stock and simmer. Pass through a tammie, add turtle meat and green fat, and season with Madeira and lemon juice....
sounds delicious!
