Wow, Andy's on page 1 of this thread... I knew he was a spammer at heart.

Well, there was one depressing thing in 1997 or 98. Columbine. About 2 hours away from where I live, and we watched the event unfold during class.

Also, didn't Princess Diana pass way that year along with Mother Teressa as well?

This isn't a spam thread. And yes he's one of two (semi)-active people in this thread who were on the first page. The other is cahoots.

I can't remember, I want to say that Diana may have been earlier though.

'97: death of Diana, yes (Candle in the WInd) and Mother Theresa (Sandals in the Bin).
Also Comet Hale-Bopp (stunning).
Also a rather odd holday in Scotland, in which Mrs Curl was v ill in the beginng of the pregnancy which eventually produced my daughter, the curlette.

..which leads us to 98, when curlette was born and we were looking for a bigger house. We sold the old one three times before the transaction actually became final, and moved to the New Forest.
Two years later we moved again, due to Mrs Curl's job.

My dad actually used to say that it was the Hale-Bob comet and say that they named it after him and the hale storm he had been in when he first discovered it.

1998: I think that was the beginning of the newer Star Wars saga (shivers).

I had an American friend who was so big a Star Wars fan she flew back to the US to see the movie, about two months before it would be out in the UK.
I still haven't seen it.

Probably for the best. It wasn't the worst movie ever made but it easily ruined the Star Wars saga.

And pluto will be renamed as a planet. After all isn't it convienant that all this wierd stuff is happening just as we are approaching the 2000 mark. Russia in Georgia, a second universe, The LHC, out of body experiences, the US financial crisis and so much more.
