i do understand the reasoning of Sams map not being immediately allowable.Juan_Bottom wrote:
The funny thing is that the current diagrammatic layout is exactly how I have always internally visualised the classic map!!!jiminski wrote: I really have given it a shot but it is practically unfathomable. There isn't any official news just yet, but a competition is looking increasingly unlikely...jiminski wrote:Everything has gone completely silent!MrBenn wrote:I haven't heard anything official... just speculating... that's one of the problems about living on the other side of the planet from the Top Turtle
Are you psyching up to give us terrible news on this?

move forward less than 48 hours:MrBenn wrote:There will indeed be a competition for a new Classic map...![]()
We're just working out the details of how it will run, and I expect there will be an announcement soon...
is it any wonder us ordinary members of the site are confused as to what is going on and how it is being handledMrBenn wrote:There isn't any official news just yet, but a competition is looking increasingly unlikely...
However, a small team of people have been working through the night, and hopefully will be able to announce something later today...
Lack Ben is a splendid chap, please don't undermine him by making him tell us half-truths!/porkies!Re: World 1.0

This isn't helping guys...
The site has decided that the Classic map has to come down... Lack appears to have decided that we're not going to be able to use a world map with the classic gameplay.
Please be patient, while we get our heads around what we're going to do next...
Except for the "trust your judgement" part, big ditto.jiminski wrote:Now as we are not going to have a classic map .. and i am almost certain you have decided to do this in another way as you are panicking.
I am slowly coming to terms with the loss of this great and my favourite map!
I strongly advise that you do not map the map quickly behind closed doors (frankly we feel alienated and left out enough already)
We have come to terms somewhat we the loss of the map.
1. make a loss grating temporary map
2. Run the best damn map Competition and bring back your punters together feeling like part of the site.
Be quick but don't rush it.
Give the ultimate replacement the best possible chance at being magnificent and to the taste of the largest number of customers possible.
Trust our judgement and we will trust the site.
Juan_Bottom wrote:I don't think an actual world map matters, only the gameplay. Like jiminski sid there is a strange co-incidence going on here about a world with oceans of lava.... I still think that we could do the competition, if only to see who can make themost original and best map with the same gameplay, whatever that gameplay will be.

But, you should prolly only trust jiminski's judgement...
I am not in possession of all the facts - I have shared what little I have been able to, to try and help move things along...jiminski wrote:Lack Ben is a splendid chap, please don't undermine him by making him tell us half-truths!/porkies!
Get the facts to us us fast so we can come to terms with it please.

well that is a mistake in my oppinion, but i do not blame you for anything in the way of misinformation MB... these are secretive times... lawyers always make people sneaky.MrBenn wrote:I am not in possession of all the facts - I have shared what little I have been able to, to try and help move things along...jiminski wrote:Lack Ben is a splendid chap, please don't undermine him by making him tell us half-truths!/porkies!

I genuinely believed a competition was going to happen, but it now looks like it isn't
Surely that depends on who's point of view you are coming from.Frop wrote:Unfortunately CC has the tendency to do the exact opposite of what's right. I hope they prove me wrong.

My very own. Now that the lynching mob has gone back to being a bunch of pacifistic pussies I'm once again happy to disagree with everything they throw at us.yeti_c wrote:Surely that depends on who's point of view you are coming from.Frop wrote:Unfortunately CC has the tendency to do the exact opposite of what's right. C.
Ditto. But I'm the type to lean into the wind.jiminski wrote:i can feel our fate is already chosen for us once more....
Yes. I was of the mind that a contest would take waaaayyy to much time(I'm following the Brazil map same as er'yone else) and that they should just pay someone to quickly make a better temp map. In that way the mapmakers would have time to do their contest. But If the classic map is a total loss, and Lack isn't communicating(not necessaraly his fault) then why not just start a competition now? It will please everyone to see some results as we are now entering day three. Even if they are unofficial results.... so Mr. Benn, go and grab that bull by the horns!jiminski wrote:come on fellas; give us a better replacement map and a competition so we can rally for, instead of against this site.
jiminski wrote:Do it much like the Brazil Revamp (except your lawyer has the veto instead of Marv), what a fantastic (except from the end) display of talent that was!
Suffice it to say that MrBenn and I are sharing with you what little we learn, as we learn it. We agree with the rest of the community that something better than LuckyCharmsClassic and Skittles-Earth is needed, but until we know exactly how we can go forward everything we say about a Classic competition is hopeful conjecture. I'm confident that things will be made more concrete in the near future, but until then we're stuck with what we've got...
