Yup, if it had been another hour and 40 min., it would have been 3 days. So did I set a new record w/ my first post?gameplayer wrote:BUMP
70:20?
Now how did this happen? I looked in here, saw a 59:03 or some such time in this post, calculated it to make sure it was correct, and it was. Now suddenly you're at 70:20?gameplayer wrote:BUMP
70:20?
Since nobody was posting after his latest post... He might have deleted it, then posted again, making it that much later.Nikolai wrote:I still want to know how that dude went from 53 or so to 70. Does editing reset his time or something?

I don't get mad often, but how dare you. It was my first post to the thread EVER and I posted thinking that I'd have a few hours(maybe!) before another bump. If I deleted and reposted it'd make the post BEFORE me longer, not MY POST LONGER. How am I supposed to have stopped anyone else from posting to the thread? I'm not a mod, I can't lock a thread or delete posts or anything. It just happened that no one posted for almost 3 days.Nikolai wrote:Hmmm... cheap, but effective. But cheap.
I was talking to Ditocoaf about the impossible method he's suggesting in the way I cheated. You comment is included because you're considering it even though it's a way that doesn't make any sense. His suggested explanation makes no sense at all if he puts any thought into it, and gameplayer's 70:20 comment is actually the time my post was up so it's me he's (Ditocoaf) thinking did some funky posting. I posted the one post and didn't comeback myself for days.Nikolai wrote: EDIT: Additionally... who the hell are you? The person whose bump time I'm questioning goes under the tag of "gameplayer". So what are you squalling about?
Ah... you're making the usual newcomer's mistake in this thread. I'm not accusing you of cheating, I'm suggesting a way gameplayer could have cheated. Here's what's probably confusing you: You don't get points here for "killing the thread"... you get points for posting after it's been dead for a while. So if person A posts, then the thread isn't posted in for 50 hours, then person B posts... person B made a fifty-hour bump, and would go on the scoreboard. This game isn't what you would think it is. The strategy is to wait... and wait... trying to let the time get as high as possible before you post... but if someone takes it before you, then you've lost your chance.poptartpsycho18 wrote:I was talking to Ditocoaf about the impossible method he's suggesting in the way I cheated. So since you think his explanation is possible, please explain it to meIt's not something I did and I'm curious how (why) someone would waste time doing that in a freaking forum game. It's not like this is anything really so important to go to such an effort.

Okay--Thank you for explaining. That's all I asked. No one would explain what the complaining was for. Well that and what was the shortest overall one...which never did get answered.Ditocoaf wrote:Ah... you're making the usual newcomer's mistake in this thread. So, if gameplayer posted 53 hours after your post, then he would have 53 hours on the scoreboard. But if then, 17 hours later, he deleted his post and posted again, it would look like he had waited all 70 hours without posting. This would be gameplayer cheating, and wouldn't effect you at all.
[Posted at 58 minutes:] I think the validity of this previously awesome game has just been compromised. f*ck that.Nikolai wrote:Yes, that is the method currently under suggestion.
EDIT: And I just verified that it would work, using this post... man that's cheapsauce.

But now it's pretty assured that this will never grow to weeks and months.InkL0sed wrote:I see it as a valid strategy. Adds more depth to the game - every post prevents a delete-strategy.

I disagree.Ditocoaf wrote:But now it's pretty assured that this will never grow to weeks and months.InkL0sed wrote:I see it as a valid strategy. Adds more depth to the game - every post prevents a delete-strategy.
