how many people joined to play the classic map?

Post by azezzo »

i did,my friends did, how about you?
just curious to see how many of us did, considering about 1/3rd of all games played on this site were classic map games.
for the record i have played over 1900 games on the classic map

I joined for the exact opposite: to not play the classic map.

Lets face it, we have an actual board classic that many of us played for years before cc started up, and I have not met a single person in real life, who has not gotten sick of playing RISK on the same old map. So when my friends told me about the site, I joined to play on new maps.

I understand why people who joined in 06 might have joined to play classic, I probably would have as well if I knew about the cite earlier, but I would say that classic is the least cc has to offer us. Had this been a cite where I would just play classic, I would have quit within a week and went back to rolling actual dice.

Of course it has always been good having Classic to fall back on, but I have to admit that as soon as I saw some of the other offerings,I was beyond intrigued. At moments when I considered leaving the site (due to bad luck or boredom etc.), it was always the great new maps that kept me here.

I've only played 117 games on it. Only 4/5 of my first 20 were on classic. So no, I guess I didnt join for it.

The real question to be answered is what are you going to do now that your map of choice is gone?

Well, at present "cry about it in a futile fashion" appears to be the answer of choice.

It kept telling me I was NOT TO PRESS THE RED BUTTON.

Which ofcourse I did, f*ck whatever some silly internet game tells me not to do.

I joined to play classic... but I paid and stayed because of everything else. If I just wanted to play the same map forever I wouldn't have ponied up for premium.

I don't really like the classic map for games other than team games..so no I did not join to play classic. What got me, ironically, was the Middle Earth map but that's beside the point...

again, i really have to agree with this statement. i have stated it before, and when someone else feels the same way, i have to applaud them. the classic map is/was easily my least liked and played map. and when i joined, i found so many of the other maps infinitely more enjoyable than the classic map. i understand the pain and sorrow many are feeling (robinette), however, i just feel there are far superior maps on the site to play.-0

Having played some 80% classic,i feel this map has definately helped me to get to the rank that i find myself today & when it went, believe me,i was truely gutted.
However, now that it has gone & i am forced to play other maps(as do not like replacement),it has to be said,i am rather enjoying them.
They say that variety is the spice of life & until the classic was changed,i was not, shall we say, very "spicy" at all, infact one could say i had been set in my ways & rather boring
Yes i loved the classic map,yes i will miss it & yes,it will always have a place in my heart.
However, it has gone & i"m now finding there is a lot great deal more to CC than just that one map.
Now that my eyes have been opened to this fact, "variety" definately is the spice of life & to those of you that felt as i did, i urge it to be yours also as there truely are some good maps out there
