Theres just no real way to divide everything up... And besides people need to stop saying people should make maps and make them themselves!

Yeah, and it's such a good idea to create a map of Antarctica because those countries actually fought each other to claim those lands...

Is the sarcasm really necessary? You guys make it sounds like we're a bunch of junior high or high school boys, jockeying for status or something.

Yes, the sarcasm is necessary. If an idea is stupid (and, in my opinion, it was deliberately stupid), then it needs to be put down swiftly.

Every idea of a map is stupid at first, want us to crack every idea of a map in the early stages??

All we're saying is maybe there's a reason the guys who designed the original Risk board didn't include Antarctica.

Besides, nobody's making a map out of this, just someone throwing an idea out there. Do you want to make it?

It's not difficult to just say "I don't think it would work very well," or to give reasons you don't think it would work well (like kingwaffles did -- with bonus useful advice tagged on at the end!), or even to just ignore the idea and let it vanish on its own. Throwing out put-downs doesn't really benefit anybody.

Well it seemed to be deliberately stupid, that's why I went for a put-down :)

I stand by my post from early April:

rocksolid wrote:Hey, wait a minute, maybe I'm serious here. You see, that whole March of the Penguins thing winning the Oscars, there's some interest there. I mean, how can there be penguins marching around Antarctica if they're not in an army? Who else marches, am I right? Huh? They got the uniforms and everything, see. And there's all kinds of crags and inlets and natural boundaries on Antarctica, and there could be a big impassable mountain range at the centre where it's just too cold, and there could be that temple from Alien vs. Predator in there somewhere, and in every corner of the map, there could be graphics of those penguins with the missiles strapped to their backs from Batman Returns (http://www.propstore.com/images/product ... in1sml.jpg), all ready to kick serious tail feather.

I actually like the idea. Its kind of the same idea as the fictional maps. No real army has fought there but who cares. I would play it if it was made well.

Its....snow. Its not that no one has fought there, or that its nothing fun to take over...oh wait, yes it is. There's nothing to take over. Except maybe the south pole. Now if someone did the north pole, you could have santa's workshop and stuff....thats what i'm talkin about. And if you don't think there's battle in the north pole, i believe weird al did a song about the night santa went crazy.

Antarctica could be an interesting idea. I was searching for a few images to see what could be used for such a map and came up with...

Territorial claims & Research Stations

There seem to be a main few countries 'claiming' certain areas, so perhaps continents could be divided up into the the main countries that own certain areas.

Main List

Now if this idea actually has any real strength and interest, that's hard to say. I think the hardest part would be figuring out how to divy up the land into countries and continents, but it could be an interesting task if done in a unique and fun way. Just some thoughts.
