My great grandfather died in the woods near Bogalusa Louisiana in a hunting "accident." From all tales in the family, he was a true redneck who hunted, fished, and fucked with abandon. He also worked like a horse. No one knows what he thought of death, except he didn't fear it so much that he was afraid of hunting while drinking.

That's not true. If you are alive, you do not know what death is. It is the lack of living. It's unknown.

I've died once already. So yeah, I do know.

Everything fades to black. There is no pain (or else my natural endorphins had been firing so hardcore at that point I wasn't feeling anything anyway). I didn't see any of that white light garbage, had no "standing before my creator" visions.

It's just sleeping the big sleep.

Except, in that case, I woke up. So don't fear death everyone, there's nothing to it, really.

Apparently, this happens to you every weekend, after a night of drinking yourself into a stupor and vomiting all over your self. Its not the same thing.

i didnt feel like reading through all of this thread (just read the first post)

but like most, ya i fear death, i never think about it unless people ask me my fears...

but here is how i think, i do not belive in a higher power, cannot (no matter how religious the rest of my family is) so when i think about death i cant help but picture just blackness... like loseing all your senses, sigh, hearing, touch, taste, smell, and it just being black, dark and nothingness, and that is a scary thought, just being gone without a trace >.<

This thread should have died while still on page 1, it can't be put better in words than Snorri put it.

And maybe some regret that one won't be around to see how the world is developing.

Right, but consider the Aurelius quote in the OP. You lose nothing by not being around to see how the world is developing. Not if you subscribe to his version of stoicism.

Dont call people who belive in jesus freaks.
pimpdave wrote:Wow, a bunch of votes already.

Can someone go shill this poll in both the Jesus Freaks sub-forum and the Godless Heathens? I'd really like to get a good sampling of responses, considering the division appearing in the results.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate.

You've never heard the term, Jesus Freak?

It was a social movement, spawning out of the free-love era of the 60s. People call themselves Jesus Freaks. In fact, that movement was a symbolic predecessor to the Straight Edge movement that gained popularity in the late 80s and into the 90s (sans the religion part). The idea being that you didn't have to do drugs to have a good time, you could "groove on Jesus" as it were (except the Straight Edgers took out the Jesus part).

But, to be more specific, Jesus Freaks is the name of a clan here on Conquer Club, so I'm not calling anyone names, I'm referring to an usergroup here on Conquer Club identifying themselves as "Jesus Freaks", which means that they believe in Jesus.

I hope you're just trolling, cause if you're not dude, you're like, extremely culturally unaware. Cast off thine rock under which ye live!

mine is the opposite... i have never had much of a fear in dying, just the fear of being dead and gone... ive always said that lol, if you die, you die (obviously some sorts i am afraid of, but in general... not at all) but the nothingness afterwords is frightening
