Pick a Partner Dubs Tourney!
This will hopefully be both a fun and a learning tournament. More specifically it will give players a chance to see how the higher ranked players play and visa versa. Also there is always the players that have always wanted to play with someone higher ranked but never had the chance or reason to invite them. So this is a chance for the lower ranked players to find a higher ranked partner and learn their strategies.
So higher ranked players, this is your chance to join a tournament with a lower ranked partner without risking so many points, and lower ranked players, this is your chance to partner up with a higher ranked partner!
Joining Conditions:
*Must be premium to join
*The players on each doubles team score can NOT be within 500 points difference from each other (For example if you have 2100 points, your partner must have more than 2600 points or less than 1600 at point of sign up).
*The player with the lower of the scores on the team can NOT have a higher score than 1600.
*The players that team up to form a team can not have completed more than 5 games together (as partners) previous to sign up date
*Pick a team name (this will replace your team letter)
Rules:
This tournament will consist of 16 teams (two divisions of eight). I will split up the teams into the divisions based on total score of each team to keep things as fair as possible. (see chart below). Each team will play 3 games at a time against an opponent. Each series for the week will have different spoils settings for each of the three games(one of flat rate, one of escalating and the last of no spoils). The maps are preset and listed below the Divisions chart. All games for THIS tournament will be chained fortifications. Each team will play each of the other teams in THEIR DIVISION ONLY one week (total of 3 games). Since there are 8 teams in the divisions, this will take 7 weeks. All games until the playoffs are considered single games and not a best of 3 series. So if you win 1 and lose 2, your record will be 1-2 ... not 0-1. Each team will play a total of 21 games before the playoffs start. Top 2 teams from each division will advance to the playoffs.
I will issue out your 3 games for the week on the same day each week. So it is possible you will be playing more than 3 games at a time depending on how long it takes you to finish them. This is why it is a premium members only tournament.
