Define "troll."

Post by Downey »

I have heard many variations of the word troll used in so many different contexts.
What do the wonderful posters of CC have to say about trolling?

It's a wonderful thing...
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

It's actually the Welsh word Llort, spelt backwards.
The backward spelling is for magical effect, and is a time-binder.
For instance, all the time you spent reading this you were under a Llort spell, and should have been doing something more useful.

CC mod: You! Stop spamming
CC poster: What is spam? Can you define it?
CC mod: Just use your common sense, spamming is trolling.
CC poster: Can you define trolling then?
CC mod: Simple! Trolling is what trolls do!
CC poster: And can you actually answer the question and define trolls then?
CC mod: Trolls are people who spam. I've told you the answer *leaves*

Trolls are people who use circular reasoning to promote their own ends on the internet?

Trolls use circular logic in a square conversation, square logic in a circular conversation, and pentagonal logic when confusion is the goal.

What does that make someone who uses hexagonal logic?

A confused troll. Six is a very bad number for trolls. It reminds them of diamonds and their days working the diamond mines in Canada.

I see, but wouldn't a confused troll be all the more confusing for everyone else and thereby be capable of causing even more mayhem than a normal troll?

You used to be able to find one under a bridge if you were lucky.
Unfortunatly, not many survived The Great Purge of '53.
