Disable auto-joining of both live chat rooms

Post by Lev306 »

Concise description:
  • When clicking live chat, instead of automatically joining both the social and callouts chat room, there should be an option of which or both to join.

Specifics:
  • Perhaps when entering the loading screen for the chat rooms, you are allowed to choose which room you wish to join or both, with the default being both left blank.

This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • This will improve the functionality of live chat in that since currently users enter both chat rooms, this leads to a false impression of how many players are actually looking for a game. By selecting which option, this effectively guarantees that the player is interested in A) socializing B)looking for a game c)doing both.

I always close Callouts as soon as it loads...

But as stated - there would have to be the option to choose - else newbies would never find both rooms.

Why?

If you don't like being in Callouts, close Callouts. If you don't like being in Social, close Social.

It's 1 click, why does it matter?
Lakad Matataaag!

Two clicks for me. 1 to hit the x and 1 to confirm the close. but that isn't the issue.

I never use callouts. never ever. it'd just be more convenient for me for the window to open right to Social, instead of the screen starting on callouts each time.

This could easily be a setting in your profile or similar.

yes. that would be awesome.

And a place to enter the room names that I join every time I open chat. It just make things a bit more convenient.
So I can avoid typing "/join [room name]" two or three times when I log in

Its more of a matter that most people don't close one or the other rather they just leave it open. While in social it doesn't matter as much, in callouts, its a bit annoying to guage how many people are actually looking for a game; you can't tell if the people in callouts are just afk or they are sitting in social and chatting off.
