On the main forum board there is a clear link to them at the top and you can also find smaller links at the top of each individual forum when you enter them. DO you feel like there needs to be more? If so do you have any suggestions?amazzony wrote:I haven't read through this thread because I could care less so if it has been mentioned already then sorry for the post. Right, knew I have seen them somewhere, guess I'm just so used to them being there that ignored them today. But where you can see them in each individual forum, I just don't know. Aah, after looking closer I saw them but I think they are too well camouflaged in there because I can see right away the colorful moderators and after a closer look I notice the guidelines. Plus I think that they are not that useful in there because for example when I go to tournaments then I click on Create/Join or Ongoing right away and don't click first on Tournaments and then pick which sub forum I like.gimil wrote:On the main forum board there is a clear link to them at the top and you can also find smaller links at the top of each individual forum when you enter them. I agree that they are well camouflaged on indiviudual forums, but I don't think this can be made any more prominent without hacking the php software. Something I know lack doesn't like doing because it makes updating the forum harder in the long run.amazzony wrote:Right, knew I have seen them somewhere, guess I'm just so used to them being there that ignored them today. This part seems a shade too authoritarian for me. CC has its niche part of the internet where it sets the rules. The rest of the internet has it rules.Don't ever post personal information of other users. Anywhere. Ever. Even if they already posted it somewhere else. This includes posting personal information about a CC user on another site, you will be held accountable here.
you mean 'bigoted'. 'Bigamous' means you have two wives. And if that's illegal here, then you can kiss my freemium ass goodbye.God wrote: Bigotry takes into account historic events, emotional baggage and generally accepted associations with a term, phrase or intent - posting "White Power" in a thread has a history and is bigamous

Yeah, Iliad, it was a great move, up until all of you start pissing and moaning about the fact that none of your suggestions were ever heeded. It's a lovely double-edged sword, isn't it?Iliad wrote:Yeah Damn Night Strike, for actually asking of the opinion of the community you're supposed to be running. Who had the brilliant idea to post this for "community feedback" before making it official? That decision has now left this entire revamp of the community guidelines in a position where it will now take until the end of next summer before anything is finalized.
I like you Night Strike, and I always will, but this was a mistake. The guidelines certainly need to be beefed up and clarified, but you just made it a whole hell of a lot harder.

Seriously people, all you do with these attempts to make your rules watertight and to prevent posters taking the piss is make them more determined to f*ck with you. It doesn't really matter if you respect the chat mods or not, the rules are the rules. Also, you conveniently left out the rest of that section where it says that if you have a problem with a moderator's decision, you are supposed to talk it over in a PM. Yes, mods do make mistakes (it would be stupid to deny that), but that does not mean someone needs to raise a ruckus in the public room just to point that out. Discussing it via PM is ALWAYS preferred (and more likely to have the mod hear your side of the case). Please don't pick and choose 1 phrase to argue if you aren't going to present the whole context.jayde wrote:The "we are right no matter what don't question us" is a bit over the top don't you think? I've seen it in several places, most notable in the chat section - "Moderator directions and/or decisions made are to be followed without question." In my limited time here, I've seen several times where chat mods were wrong or had their own agenda or acted like asses baiting, flaming, or spamming. If you have to repeatedly keep puffing out your chest to tell people that you're in charge, then it's painfully obvious that you're not. Respect can't be demanded, even by a set of guidelines.
Believe it or not, mods don't read EVERY thread in the forums, so not everything gets noticed. I believe that pictures of shirtless male athletes would be allowed as long as the picture is clearly male (just look at the Male Hot & Sexy thread). Problems show up when people try to post nude art or nipples that are not clearly male. An admin will probably have the final say on this issue (so I could be mistaken), but do you have any suggestions to change the wording?jbrettlip wrote:Not arguing FOR porn in any way shape or form. I am pointing out that your guidelines are not well written on that subject, and that if no nipples are allowed, any shirtless male athlete shoudl not be allowed either. Bruce Lee, Mike Tyson, every UFC guy......etc
Make it a no nudity policy. And actually enforce it.

This may be a bit of a tangent but it still relevent to rule enfocement. As night strike said, mods can't read every post in every thread. In order to make it easier to deal with very issue and enforce consistantly the mods need the community to report anything that they feel needs atttention or is out of line. Using the report a post button is the most helpful a member can be for a mod.Believe it or not, mods don't read EVERY thread in the forums, so not everything gets noticed.

For me, PM discussion is ALWAYS prefered. Assuming you are willing to discuss an issue. If you are just looking for a fight then I am not intrested and don't want you in my inbox.nagerous wrote:Are you sure discussion via PM is "ALWAYS" preferred?
Last I heard, the mods were getting pretty irate, about people continuingly arguing their case via PM, and dismissed it as "PM spam".

Well I know both jayde and NS are talking about Live Chat right now, and I'd much rather gets PMs(on Live Chat, but if someone wants to Forum PM me, I wouldn't mind either) to discuss issues one on one with the person rather than have them throw things out in Live Chat. Mostly people do it to provoke others to argue and fight or to have them also attack the mod/mods there at the time. So rather than being a public disturbance, yes PMs are preferred. I don't see how asking people to go to a PM to maturely discuss a problem as a huge request, but for some reason it rarely happens.nagerous wrote:Are you sure discussion via PM is "ALWAYS" preferred?

If someone PMs me trying to be obnoxious, I will respond once. If they continue to be annoying, I will read the PM, but it is not worth responding a second time. If someone is trying to have an actual conversation, I will respond to their PMs. Also, PMs are better (at least in a forum perspective) because they do not derail threads. I have had instances where I liked a comment by someone or I wanted to clarify something, and instead of centering the discussion on a moot point, I have sent a PM.nagerous wrote:Are you sure discussion via PM is "ALWAYS" preferred?

Well there's often more than one person involved in any given issue, and taking it private when it concerns numerous people and is already the main focus of chat isn't necessarily the best course of action. It's hard enough to keep up with one room, let alone two. The mods should initiate the private conversation if they want it so badly.InsomniaRed wrote:Well I know both jayde and NS are talking about Live Chat right now, and I'd much rather gets PMs(on Live Chat, but if someone wants to Forum PM me, I wouldn't mind either) to discuss issues one on one with the person rather than have them throw things out in Live Chat. Actually I was suggesting that if you do ask us for our opinions, you do listen to them. So drop that tone, though doesn't really matter because you're not going to be listening to us, the community anyway. But at least you guys are perfect, you will never make mistakes or go on power trips and we all respect and like you.Optimus Prime wrote:Yeah, Iliad, it was a great move, up until all of you start pissing and moaning about the fact that none of your suggestions were ever heeded.
