Unfortunitly, I'm really not. Quite apart from Christians vastly outnumbering anyone else in France and America, minority is a term that has long ceased to be directly associated with numerical connotation. My and country and yours are based on Germano-Celtic Christian heritage: Christmas is a part of that.

Yes, we're being displaced, but I'm here telling you that we've got fight left in us.

The very one

Well i've always said the reason i hate christmas is because it combines the two things i hate the most. Religion and consumption.

I know you don't like commercialization of it, but as far as i'm concerned, the two are the same thing

I'm an atheist and I celebrate the Hell out of Christmas. It's always been one of my favorite holidays but I've never been a Christian. As an atheist I enjoy carrying on the traditions of my species. This holiday was around before Jesus. There has always been a Winter festival of some sort. It bothers me to hear people talk about what Christmas has become. Any holiday is what you make of it.

in answer to brookies original question, 'Do athiest's celebrate christmas' - i would have to say from my perspective, no.

But having said that, i have managed to sway my family that still celebrate christmas to say 'happy family day' to me, if they want to say merry christmas. Today i hang out with a a heap of my mates, drank home brew beer, and ate roasted chicken and roasted vege's (all of which were dumpstered out of supermarket bins, and it was the first time in over 5 years that i've eaten any chicken meat, and it was delicious) and celebrated 'family day' - that time when the sun is hot (in the southern hemisphere) and you get shit faced and have a brilliant time. No jesus and no santa getting in the way.

I've known health and safety forms to be more creatively put together and less generic than that insult.

And of course that's just the thing, you say you display homosexual tendencies, and you just act like an effeminate poof everywhere you go to look all kewl and trendy with your metro yuppie-urbanite and daisy-chaining flower-powering hippie friends, but secretly, you just can't resist the urge to be a man, you drool whilst dreaming of eating a gigantic juicy steak at a grillhouse, make a girl swoon with your now protein-nourished and bulked up muscles, smash up a bar with the limp body of a rival whom you knocked unconscious for daring to look at her sideways, before hitting the rugby pitch for a display of macho.

Sure; the Christmas tree was originally a pagan thing, as was the Yule Log.

Do Christians "Celebrate" the pagan festival of Halloween? One must not necessarily go "all in" to enjoy a holiday.

I enjoy the Christmas season...just as I enjoy St Patrick's day. But that doesn't mean I worship invisible Leprechauns. ;)

Well that's the thing about cultures. They evolve and change as your (and mine) is doing. Your precious old ways are slowly fading into the sunset and that obviously stings you deeply. Sound like you are the one who needs to "f*ck off" if you can't handle progress.

Well, yes, but no, that's thing about cultures, they remain distinct and evolve organically, they don't suddenly disappear because other cultures start encroaching on their territory. Unless we're talking about a wholesale invasion of alien occupiers. Which, in the case of my country and to an extent yours, we are. But that doesn't exactly sound like a great thing to happen to us, now does it, you lilly-livered muslim-loving moolti-kulchural organic-tea swilling Guardian-reading rubber-stamping half-baked Che Guevara t-shirt wearing leftist minger dhimmi bootlicker?

So either quit whining, stick yourself above the parapet and stand your post against 'em, or get out of our way as we do it for you. We got 'em in 732 and by God we'll get the bastards again now, with or without you. They kill and pillage and rape us, and destroy the churches and devastate the West whilst the weak-willed stand idly-by. If you permit them to continue thus for awhile with impunity, the faithful of God and those who hold dear Western Freedom will attacked by them until annihilation. It is our duty as Christians or responsible citizens of Free and Liberal Nations to destroy that vile race where-ever we find it on our lands or on those of our friends. The first step is to take back our festivals, be they ones we celebrate as a Religious observance like Christmas for me, or those we celebrate as a Cultural one, like Halloween to me and Christmas to you.

It's a moral stand against the Oppressor. I want my bloody Christmas Tree in the middle of the High Street, as a Symbolic Flame of Resistance against the Vichy-dhimmi goverments of Nuu Layb0r, or the Usurper Nagy-Bocsa.

Wow, you are one paranoid, racist xenophobe. In our counry you would fit right in with the toothless, redneck, gun-toting, white-power crowd (also sheep lovers). No one is taking away your(our) festivals/holidays/religious practices you nutter. "Fest" all you want...but don't do it on PUBLIC land paid for by PUBLIC funds. Create all the shrines to your cult you wish...on your property and in your home.

Oh? Using PUBLIC funds on PUBLIC land? Like Muzz's for their Mosque-building in historic centres of ancient Cathedral towns, or for putting on Eid celebrations to celebrate "community diversity"?

This whilst the pearls of our heritage, wonders of Gothic architecture, are left to crumble under pretext that thy qualify as "religious" buildings and hence can't be maintained using PUBLIC funds (imagine the gall of demanding they should be! bah...).

I don't know what community you imagine I'd fit into from the perspective of you and your sandal-wearing community of decapacitated hippies, but I know where I do here.

I know may not fit in with the trendy metrosexual yuppie crowd at the local yoga club, maybe not with the quasi-permanently (m)ethylically comatose gangstas with trackie bottoms around their mid-thigh, maybe not with the flatulent political élite.

No, maybe I don't know many friends who are muslim, transvestite or literally want to ban Christmas: but!

I do know many who are honest, hard-working, family men struggling under oppressive taxes to make a decent living, who are tired of being told they're racist for loving their country, tired of their hard-earned wages going toward paying for cable TVs for the gangsta's who mugged them on their way home from work and weren't pursued because some rubber-stamping bureaucrats diverted resources from the police to fund council houses for this scum to live in, from where they can set up drug-dens lure their daughters into cannabis-induced sex at 14 because the poor girls don't know any better, any intelligence children show being actively repressed by lisping civil servants who've never set foot inside a school by redistributing performing students to shitty classes where half the kids can't speak English.

And when they want to celebrate a traditional, religious Christmas with their family, no they can't, because do-gooder Mr. Fixit like you look on in horror at the notion that this might offend the lovely diversity-bringing communities we're so lucky to have.

Now, maybe the socialist utopic world that you and your leftist buddies have created, with council houses stretching out as far as the eye can see, and anyone who tries to put in an honest day's work getting savaged for having the bloody cheek to try and actually shock-horror improve things for him and his family.

I know, know. You'll dismiss this all with a throwaway "omg fairy tale believer" or "wacist!!111!!ONE!!limx-->0sin(x)/x!1!" comment followed by a smiley, but deep down, you'll feel guilt at the profound fuck-up your generation have achieved.

Cheers. Now have the courtesy to stand out of my damn way when I try to clean up your mess.

Rather than attribute my posts to some complex you think you heard of during the few months you studied some soft-science at a shitty college in an Outback province, and draw some absurd conclusion such as that my opinions are attributable to the fact I come from a broken home/ my parents were shot by Cuban druglords/ I was raped by some burly Nigerian gangsters in my early youth, why not post something of substance.

to be fair your not exactly saying much either. I mean yeah your putting something out there but it gets lost in unnecessary verbiage. On top of that your overbearing hostility makes people who perhaps are more willing to engage with you less willing to do so.

Not that i agree with radiojakes approach here, its the internet, be you a cat, 87 year old woman, or an alien, you cant really get very far by trying to attribute everyones opinions or stances to things about their life that you cannot possibly know without prior information.

* I didnt really read much other than your last post, so if you were more concise and outlined your argument earlier disregard this post*

Well, essentially what's happening here Tonky is that I'm trying to say that Christmas should still be allowed.

They're saying it shouldn't.

So... yah.

well theres a difference between saying that Christmas should be allowed and saying that you have to use public resources to sponsor it, or that you have to allow visuals to be posted in public places.

Granted its never been something ive cared about, if someone wants to have some type of civic thing representing the holiday they might as well. Still I can understand the idea that there should be reasonable limits to things like that. Its hard to really prove that taking away these things really undermines the values of individuals that much, at least from anything im aware of.

Id personally rather there were approaches to try to figure out ways to stretch community dollars to meet as many different oppertunities as possible. The fact that either side declares this is a war on christmas or a war on a secular state seems to be making a little to much of a mountain out of a molehill.

Well firstly i've never been to any college, and I didn't think you were from a broken home at all, infact quite opposite.

It just seems to me the rhetoric that comes out of your mouth (or from your fingers) is not inline with most 16 years olds on this planet, hence my persumption that there has been someone else in the house while growing up who has been spouting off similar patriotic chrisitan rants very much similar to the posts you come out with.

As for posting something of substance, it's a very convienient high horse to sit on, considering you rarely say anything yourself that isn't calling someone who disagrees with you a leftwing-Che-loving-hippy-pinko.
