I wonder if the lowest rank (let's say Waiter) could be prevented from playing with Field Marshalls or above...

This would cut back on farming, encourage Waiters to get promoted and make the ranks more interesting

Any thoughts ?

Anyone can be farmed if their likelihood of winning times the points the farmer would lose is less than their likelihood of losing times the points the farmer would gain.

If the cooks win 100 points per game and lose 5 points per game against the conquerors team, they need to win 1 out of 21 games to break even. A team of cooks will not be able to win this often against the conqueror's team on difficult settings - that is why they are being targeted.

This is the formula farmers use to determine who to target. In the past, New Recruits were the most favorable, so all the big time farmers were going for them. Now that that is illegal / impossible, they are turning to farming cadets and cooks, which is also a profitable harvesting technique as long as they play triples, quads or difficult maps / map settings.

you do it yourself too by joining high ranked team games with low teammates to gain more points which gets you very hated among high ranks and is an asshole thing to do

when people invite you to private team games you are expected to join with a team with equal points!

back on topic, a lower rank than cook would be nice because the difference between 650 and 250 is massive but it probably wont happen

farang, please actually add something to the discussion by posting on-topic rather than post the same things all over the forum. Discussing farming has nothing to do with adding ranks.

I'm not sure if the rank itself would matter. If they added more points gained from beating higher ranks, more than the cooks get, than I'd see a point. But, if that didn't change, it'd just be a cosmetic change, and that doesn't seem overly important.

Hey everyone, I don't know what I'm doing but I was wondering if we could use a rank below the realms of cookliness.
Does anyone think that the gap between 1 and 800 points is insane? What would happen if we introduced a new rank? The waiter?
Having a waiter would improve the site by showing in more detail who you are playing. For example- if a high ranking officer was playing a cook with 700 points and another cook with 300 points and was losing both of them; the officer would lose twice as many points to the 300 pointer cook than he would to the 700 pointer cook, but to the officer's eyes the 2 cooks are equal. I suggest we introduce a "Waiter" rank ranging from say 1 point up to 400 points.

well, why would a high ranking person be randomly searching for cooks to play? that would be farming, and that, my friend, is a nono...(at least i THINK it's a "nono". we DO have a farmer's guild here >.>)

Just one point, when you play 1200s (if at all) do you ever look to see how many games they have played?

I agree an 800 over 500 games is probably no worse than a 1200 over 500 games but every good player starts somewhere so
a 1200 over 3 games is potentially as good as a Field Marshal... you just don't know it yet.

Someone who has played 3 games has never played the types of games I play or is a multi - the word "potentially" is the only word that keeps your claim valid...

I bet that if you play a normal 8 players, flat, sequential games you're rank would be a cook, or a waiter maybe
