The hour was late when the chiefs’ servant walked the cold, quiet, dark cobblestone hallway toward the prince’s room. Two guards stiffened when he approached, only to relax upon seeing the Chief’s faithful servant’s face emerge from the darkness and into the dim torch light. “I must speak to the prince of an urgent matter” said the servant anxiously. The two guards looked at each other, baffled by the mystery of what could be so important at such a late hour. They moved aside and the servant opened the door. You awake to the sound of footsteps approaching; you look up from your bed to see Gunter, your father’s faithful personal servant approaching. The years have not been kind to him but you still see the man who brought you into this world with his own hands, and helped raised you from that day on. “Gunter, what are you doing in my cambers at this time of the night?” you ask politely. “Your highness…” his voice trailing off, “your father… has joined your mother in the realm of your ancestors.” You know this day was close at hand, he had been in failing health for days, yet it still came as a shook to you. You feel as if the gods had just put the whole world upon your shoulders. “Gunter, I am not ready to take this responsibility. I am not yet ready to become Chief.” Gunter said nothing, and instead got down on one knee and bowed his head. You realized now that you have no choice, you are now the leader of your people. It has been a long and hard winter, and your people have had little to eat in weeks. You realize that if nothing is done about the current situation, that you could have a revolt on your hands. To make matters worse your rival kingdom has become more hostile in negotiating for food. They have not been hit as hard by the snow and have more food stocks then you. Your council of advisers have suggested to you to give your rival more gold for the food, to avoid a revolt among the people. Among all these problems, you feel that you are not respected enough by your rivals or by your own council. You have begun to feel something in your stomach, something that you can’t explain but know you must feed. Yet all the food that you eat never seems to quench the feeling. Not knowing what to do, you seek the advice of an old friend. You tell Gunter what has been happening to you and after a long silence he tells you something you never knew. “Your father had the same felling in his stomach and he did not know what it was either until he realized one day that it was ambition; an ambition to conquer.” You suddenly understood what you had to do; you must conquer your enemies and take their lands to fulfill your destiny. You must conquer through the ages of time to make a lasting empire for yourself and only for yourself.

WHAT THE! Chief CHIEF Iccinot? I shall have your head! Did I stutter when I stated my majestic name? Bring to my glorious feet this bumbling fool and I shall have his (or her - for Chief Chief Iccinot is PC) head on a platter which I shall bake (for I have high cholesterol) basted in his (again, or her) own blood and have with a decanter of the finest wine from one of my sprawling vineyards. It must have been an error caused by the shuddering while mentioning my name while typing it out. Fix it! And try not to utter my name while you type so that you do not make the same mistake again. Thanks.
Just had a terrible flu myself. . . each year I get it, I feel I take longer to recuperate. Get better soon. . . I mean . . . King Iccinot of the Nabrussians wishes you well and hopes for a speedy recovery.
