jay_a2j wrote:First off we might not want to throw around words or at least define them better before using them. Christian. What is it? We can differ on what the meaning is but lets look at it.
My belief is that going to church does not make you a Christian. Nor does being a member of a "church". I firmly believe that a Christian, believes that Jesus is the Son of God (in fact is God) and believes that the Bible is the absolute Word of God, infallible. If this is true, which I believe it is, then there is a big problem with Evolutionist Christians. The Bible does not back it. It in fact contradicts it. Now I know that there are Christians that succumb to the belief in evolution, it doesn't make them non-christian it just makes them wrong. Save the "proof" of evolution for someone else, it does not exist. It can not be observed or replicated which is required for it to be a LAW. Hence it is merely just a theory.... which by the way, is laughable at best.
Carry on....

Who writes these "dumbshit argues with 'expert' and promptly converts" things?
AAFitz wrote:
Hes right of course. We all saw god part the sea. Steal Adams rib, and plant all the plants before creating the Sun. This has been proven and is in no way laughable. The idea of small changes taking place over millions of years, which we actually can see the results of, and see plenty of evidence of...yeah...thats whats laughable.
Luckilly, the christians that taught and raised me weren't the close minded, type, and focused on the teachings of Christ, and not the contradictory, highly suspicious, and scientifically impossible few passages in the bible.
It is amazing that you cant believe that a slow process could take place, but that plants could survive on earth for 24 hours, or even better that the earth wouldnt crumble after a star with immense gravity was "created next to it"...this is not laughable....
Further, the idea that there was no death until adam and eve sinned is not laughable. There were dinosaurs, plants, and bacteria, viruses, and fish all living in perfect harmony. They needed no food because they could not eat, for the bible says there was no death, so it must be true. I wonder if all the animals were sitting around getting ready to pounce for their first meal ever, as they saw adam take his first bite. An ant about to take a bite of a leaf, a spider ready to eat the and, a rabbit about to eat the leaf and both the spider and the and, a teridactyle about to eat the rabbit, a mountain lion about to grab the terrydactyle, a velociraptor about to eat the mountain lion, and a Trex about to snag the velociraptor.... just waiting for their first meal, because as the bible says...there was no death until they ate from the tree. Not laughable at all.

From what I understand it was very cool. But nothing compared to watching the plants on the earth survive in zero degree weather... and by zero, i mean absolute zero of course. There was no sun.
Also...I say million, because since the young earth creationists believe there were only 6000-10000 years...talking about the actual 4.5 billion or so is irrelevant. 100000, 1000000, 10000000...it all means the same to them...

I liked the part where you compare the death of a plant to the death of a hampster.

Oh yeah... and im sure you have the quote for that one. Of course...a creationist would never just write something down or believe it without proof.
Tell you what, I bet God Himself will not find a scientist stating that a plant evolved from a hampster...but excellent point...
and to be fair...its as believable as the universe being created in 24 hours....oh, but wait...you have proof of that...

No matter how many times this has been explained that this was indeed, what did not happen, it keeps getting repeated.
This is the absolute truth, however as a speaker of more than one language yourself (I believe you have said previously -- correct me if wrong), you know that there is often a big differance between translating meanings and translating words. The Bible meanings have been translated with astounding accuracy. However, people who wish to look at each individual word instead of the overall text can and do have issues with people who look at the overall meanings... whether they do it with good (even Christian) intent or to try and "disprove" the Bible.
Further, many people within Christendom assert many things that are not actually even in the Bible (as I know you are well aware).
