Although, just because the bible can be proven to be bunk, does this prove the non existence of God?

Seems silly to me that atheists always claim game, set and match whenever they point out impossibilities in the bible.

Evangelicals and their "sola scriptura" are not the only ones that believe in God, in fact they make a up a pretty small percentage of the God believing population.

I certainly don't need a bible to tell me that there is an architect behind all of this, to me it's just obvious.

Why is it so hard to accept that there might be a higher order of intelligence, one that has the ability and knowledge that allows them to create space and time?.
As for the book -- one person's opinion does not constitute proof, but disputing it would require getting into way more details than I think either of us really wants right now.

As for the rest ... I think you might have me confused with some others. I don't expect to prove that my beliefs are real to anyone.

Are you kidding. Creationists believe the word of the Bible is the absolute truth. Adam and Eve's Sin brought death upon the world. Even bacteria and viruses never died. Nothing could. It was only sin that allowed all of this take place. It says it right there in Genesis, after explaining the 6 days of creation. There is simply no other way to read it. It is the Word of God.

Just like in revelations where it says the "Stars will fall upon the earth." This of course makes me very happy to read. The nearest star is millions of light years away. We dont have to worry about armegeddon for a while. Of course, it could be possible that the bible meant meteor when it says star...but theres no way for it to have a mistake...so star it is...we are safe, as long as stars cant travel faster than the speed of light.

Granted...one star falling, or for that matter getting anywhere near us would do us in anyways. Wed be thrown out of orbit, burnt to a crisp, and crushed from the gravity far before they ever fell to earth...but again... Im sure God will just make it all possible when he starts throwing them around.

Or are you the only one thats allowed some ridiculous posts with innate questions, that serve no purpose other than to troll, and pretend to prove a point doing so in any way?

But remember... the title of this is lol atheists... I would think some "lol Believer" posts would be expected

No I'm not kidding re-read it. The plants were there for eating. I presume they die biologically when that happens. I feel the death of a plant is different from mine which further is different to that of my dog that I had to put down.

Do I hope God gives me my dog back when I get to heaven? Yes.
Do I expect it? No.
Do I think perhaps the essance of my dog returned to being part of God? Maybe, let's start a thread and discuss that.

Well, I suppose its obvious that I am slightly joking, but Young earth Creationists believe the word of the Bible is the absolute truth. Adam and Eve's Sin brought death upon the world. Im not kidding either. But if you are saying that the animals were able to eat plants, but not other animals, at least that makes it possible for them to survive, of course....I dont think the carnivores would have been able to survive very long...but thats all too reasonable. And Im responding to seeing a young earth creationist specifically say, that there was no death, and that therefore, no animals could die. Granted, I feel the plants got short changed. They like all life on earth struggle to survive and live in every environment that they can. When they die, it is very clear they are doing everything they can to continue living.

But where is the cut off line here then? Was it all the cute animals that didnt die...and the plants died..what about the bugs...did they die...And fungus...it mostly feeds on death...was it just waiting till adam ate the apple too? And again...this is in response to a post that there was no death, which was taken litterally, and the problems that that creates.

As far as your dog going to heaven, I completely believe that you will have your dog in heaven if there is one. Otherwise, it simply could not be heaven for you. Of course, I also do not beleive that any heaven would be the same for everyone. Logically, it can only be what every person deserves based on the lives they led. To believe anything different it contradictory to any logic or reason...but again...I suppose that isnt important in this discussion.

The main motivation for not giving animals souls, is so that we could eat and sacrifice them, and not feel bad. Science itself did the same thing for years by arguing that animals did not have emotions, which of course is absolutely ridiculous, and obvious to anyone who has ever seen an animal. However, it makes it a little harder to butcher them, once you realize they dont want to die, are afraid, and depending upon the species, can be sad and depressed in the same exact chemical way that humans get. Easier to just take away the soul, and emotions. Much easier.

You have the makings of a fine vegetarian AA. Or do you fear the plants emotions will over come your's as you consume them alive. Which scientifically makes them healthier for us.

I don't know if tigers ate apples in the garden of eden. I feel confident that there is different forms of death though. The biological death you're refering to is different from the spiritual death your pal the young earth guy is trying to talk about, even if he himself doesn't understand that.

Like I said I believe if my dog isn't directly there in heaven "in her earthly form" there's some bigger thing that I can't understand and her spirit has returned to God in what ever way.

I also believe that a dude told the devil, "Man does not live by bread alone but by the very word of God." and it's true, however I don't believe I have sufficient faith to pull it off.

Oh sorry I missed one. I believe there was some plant, "the tree of life" that provided a perfect food for humans that would prevent a biological death for people if we could eat from it. I also believe it's been taken away for a time while we sort things out and make our decisions here.

Well thats the thing, he was specifically not talking about spiritual death, and specifically said that because the bible said there was no death, fully believed that animals did not die.

Also, Im hardly suggesting we dont eat plants and animals, but ignoring the facts to make it easier doesn't make it any less true either.

And dont take my word for it... i never knew young earth creationists existed until maybe a month or two ago. I could very well be getting the facts wrong...but the title of this thing is lol athiests...so the air of humor seems to be justified.

Ill assume you dont think Im being thorough, or serious with most of this...well...now Ill assume that. ;)

Actually, yes, I believe as the story goes, adam and eve were kicked out of the garden for fear that they would eat from it and become immortal...(again)...I dont remember whos idea it was...angels..holy spirt..jesus...the tree of life commitee...I dont remember exactly..but its in there somewhere....all official and everything. No way to question it really.

As far as serious, you asked if I was and I answered. I think it should be fairly obvious that it was restricted to that single post.

Thorough, just like the proof of God. We can't have 100% in our present form we're always going to miss something. That's a bigger problem for me if I want to play the everyword is literal game with that funny book. Every word is literal sort of and yet not a single word is literal sort of. That is part of what I like so much about it. It's a living book, I can re-read the same part of it several times and it's relavent to me sometimes in a new way each time.

'Let me explain the problem science has with religion.' The
atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and
then asks one of his new students to stand.
'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'
'Yes sir,' the student says.
'So you believe in God?'

'Absolutely. '

'Is God good?'

'Sure! God's good.'

'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'

'Yes'

'Are you good or evil?'

'The Bible says I'm evil.'

The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible!' He considers
for a moment.
'Well I forget the rest but your mother's a whore.'

THE END
FIXED is much better naow.

One of the most famous stories of Jesus; "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" was completly fabricated by a monk. Not to pick on anybody, but you are right. That is a very serious problem when you are inventing stories about someone, and then accepting them as facts. I am very familar with misqoutations and additions to the bible, though I have not read this particularbook. I'm sure that it is a good one.

Acutally, its more the other way around. I believed everything at one point. Never really questioned it. I have as much religious back ground as many, and more than most. I simply can't believe it fully now. And I use the word can't because as much as id love to, my reason and logic simply will not allow it. On some basic level I probably still do, and probably still will, and that's part of the reason I do not trust such beliefs, because they are so powerful and biased, so as to not be trusted.

Ahh, the sound of my words being dissected...

I thought it was ironic because the book that Juan was talking about was devoted to falsifying the Bible, and Juan was not giving the same critical scrutiny to this book as he was to the Bible itself. It's like if I said "Some random author wrote a book refuting The God Delusion. I'm sure all his points are valid".

So, yeah. Anyway... carry on. 8-[
