My house doesn't have a basement. There is a little room under the stairs but i don't live in it. Maybe your source of this knowledge is mistaken.

I threw a brick through my window to make sure it was a real window. It turns out that it is a proper window in a proper room. Bad thing is now though i dont have a window so i am cold when i sleep. This cellar sounds rather appealing now.
