its because green didnt play past the first round. if someone only makes a move in round 1, and then does nothing it doesnt matter when you eliminate them, they are still technically a dead beat

I thought it was only if they didn't play round 1... oh well.
So if they play in round 1 AND round 2, and then get kicked out after missing turns 3, 4, and 5, they still lose points?
The thing is that it seems like some people abuse this deadbeat thing to get out of games that aren't going well for them. If they only count as a deadbeat if they didn't play round 2 or later, then okay. But it seems that some people will even make this decision after only playing one round -- "Oh, my opening moves went s#"¤ty, so I'll quit without losing any points." I prefer to play only in 3-player games because of this -- irritating to have to wait 3 days for your turn to come around because half of the players decided not to come back -- but the effect of people turning deadbeat is more frustrating point-wise when you only have 3 players.
