I almost agree with you... libertarians are against most anything that Federal Government wishes to do in the personal lives of people. I do find it disturbing that they would ban incandescent lights and not florescent.InkL0sed wrote:Dude, they're libertarians. Of course they're against it. That's what it means to be libertarian.
In America, nobody cares.Nobunaga wrote:... CFL's are not produced in the US, at all. They all are made in China.

... I'm talking OSHA and ANSI regulations, and everybody with an interst in doing business without being shut down cares.Juan_Bottom wrote:In America, nobody cares.Nobunaga wrote:... CFL's are not produced in the US, at all. They all are made in China.

About the Chinese.
Of course we are free to do business with the Chinese... the point is, the mercury in the florescent bulbs is terrible for the environments. The ecological argument for banning incandescent bulbs is ridiculous. In all honesty, LED and halogen lighting is the best.mpjh wrote:We are perfectly free to do business with the Chinese. Just think how difficult it would be if they were made only in Cuba?
You're a goddamned liar!!!!!captain.crazy wrote:In all honesty, LED and halogen lighting is the best.
Oh, yeah, I can agree to that... but I am personally partial to the dim of the harvest moon... and the sweet smell of woodsmoke on the chill air.Juan_Bottom wrote:You're a goddamned liar!!!!!captain.crazy wrote:In all honesty, LED and halogen lighting is the best.
The best lighting is the sun.
That, and the beautiful glow of breasts.

I will... in your coffee.captain.crazy wrote:please elaborate!Juan_Bottom wrote:Woodsmoke = penis juices?
You know, I have no idea... how long does it usually take to get your group after you ask for it? and why the hell do you have to ask for a group anyway? thats kinda lame.Juan_Bottom wrote:I will... in your coffee.captain.crazy wrote:please elaborate!Juan_Bottom wrote:Woodsmoke = penis juices?
Sorry, I am upset. Where the hell is the conspiracy forum?
They had DBC and the Heathens forums up in less than a week. The Tavernside clan I think took about a week.captain.crazy wrote:You know, I have no idea... how long does it usually take to get your group after you ask for it? and why the hell do you have to ask for a group anyway? thats kinda lame.Juan_Bottom wrote:I will... in your coffee.captain.crazy wrote:please elaborate!Juan_Bottom wrote:Woodsmoke = penis juices?

Except one of my sources was Alternative Radio... not precisely a "right wing" program. DEFINITELY not a pro war program. That is why I really question those facts.mpjh wrote:Yes, of course there are right-wing propagandists trying to deny the truth out there. If you want to be a ditto-head and follow Rush and his ilk, it is a free country.
Civilian death during a war is just a reality of war. There really is no way to avoid it. That is why war should not be endeavored unless there is no other option, and an open declaration has been made. We haven't declared war since WWII. Its shameful, really.mpjh wrote:Well, there is plenty written about the Lancet article. There have been interviews on Anti-War radio with the host Horton, who is a libertarian, but pretty objective. There have been interviews on NPR. Well there is oodles of stuff out there. It is just a hard reality for Americans to swallow -- that we are responsible for some many civilian deaths, that it gets limited play in the main media. Although, I do consider Lancet to be main media.
I wasn't suggesting that it is, if that's what you think. political power has gotten so strong that the ability to simply attack another country, even without a formal declaration of war, is now possible. I think that the military has become a plaything of the government. It is really only supposed to be used to defend our sovereignty... not slug it out for resources.mpjh wrote:The war is Iraq was not (is not) necessary, thus the civilian deaths were not necessary. It was murder, plain and simple.
Besides, what has happened to us. Since when did the civilian population become expendable?
