[GF] Command to Exclue Player - Without Player

Post by ParadiceCity9 »

I think there should be a space to type "without player"...like there's a "with player" one.

I say this because somebody (johnnyrocket24) decided to put me on their ignore list and I like to play with higher ranking people and hes in pretty much every high ranking game out there and i'd like to find some w/o him.

"Without Player" command in Game Finder

Post by StormUK »

Concise description:
  • Request to include a "Without Player" command to the Game Finder search engine.

Specifics:
  • Idea as detailed as above, this is due to the games of players you have on ignore still showing when searching for a game. Especially in situations where they are a paid member, and have started a great number of games, this will save trawling through a list of their games to find a game you are interested in joining.

New field ('without player') for Game Finder

Post by aineolach »

Concise description:
  • Add a new field for the Game Finder: "Without Player"
Specifics:
  • Rather than searching for games that contain a player, search for games that don't contain a player.
This will improve the following aspects of the site:
  • If you are searching for a game to join it allows you ignore games created by a particular player (e.g. somebody who creates loads of games that are all identical in features).
Another option would be to allow a player to check a box to ignore games including his/her foes when using game finder (then the searching player just has to put the game creators on their foe list).

Good thinking :)

I was also wondering if we could have a field for
"Search games with player X or player Y.

Maybe it would clutter up the display though :|

Would it work to have a scroll list with the choices "and", "or" and "not" before the field you put the name in?

It would work if there was a check box next to the 'with player' fields in the game finder, you just check the box to tell the game finder to insert a NOT function to exclude rather than include a given name.

Could we have one of the site techies come and comment on how difficult/easy such an alteration to the site code would be, please?

although this option wouldent narrow a list down that much for a freemium member, I see how i would benefit someone who plays maps in mass quantities. I say, its a good idea :)

Something that would also be good to add to this suggestion, an 'exclude foes' button. If adopted, this would also cover all suggestions on being warned about entering games containing foes, all of which have been merged into this thread:

Notification of Ignore On Entering Game *Pending*

Kill two birds with one stone. :D

Following Artimis' post above I brought this thread to the attention of lackattack. In response he advised that he would add "with friends" and "without foes" checkboxes to the Game Finder.

"Lack's 'To-Do' List" updated. (When I did this I found that the "with friends" element was already on the list. See the thread linked to from "Lack's 'To-Do' List".]
