What settings are you playing in you multi player games?

usually 4 or 5 player, sequen, either normal cards or no cards (i actually hate cards.) and normal reinforcement. (Tho single/next space only reinforcements are fun), on europe 1914, classic squares or 1vs1 speed with no cards, standard reinforcement, sequent on classic or doodle earth. Tho i've sworn off 1vs1 now because it's not fun anymore.

Ok, let me say this. No cards and flat rate games with 4 or 5 players, there are going to be alliances. They are really worthless settings because it always hurts you to take someone out (mathematically) and therefore there is never a reason to end the game. You need to give up on these terrible settings. [There are exceptions, like flat rate on doodle, or playing freestyle on a small map maybe] For standard games, you should play escalating if you want skill. The other exceptions are maps where you quickly build massive bonuses like the AOR maps, but there's a lot of luck in that. As for 1v1 games, they will always be very dependent on luck unless you do something like fuedal and new worlds where there are powerful neutrals between you, or a huge map like world 2.1, only then will there be more skill than luck in a 1v1.

Choose a complicated map, (not City of Mogul because to much super high level player use it) and become expert in that. so you can host or join that kind of map, and pwn some no-clue players on it

Not true. Points can be made from no cards and flat rate singles games. I should know, because that's where I get my points from!

Or how about scholtz? There's another player making sick points, this time from 2.1 no cards singles. In fact, most of those I invite to my private games are 2000+ players who mainly play singles no cards/flat rate 6 to 8 player. I would agree that breaking 3,000 is a stretch from these settings, but 2,000 + is surely respectable enough?

HayesA, we have all run into the same ups and downs on this site. It's not a consipracy against you; the playing field is quite even, I assure you.

Some players are better than you, and so you sometimes lose. Sometimes you lose to noobs, and sometimes you lose to CC old-timers. Sometimes you lose to players with lower ranks, and sometimes you lose to players with higher ranks. Sometimes you lose to more than one player at one time. Sometimes you lose to players you don't like, and sometimes you lose to players who don't like you. In each and every case noted above, it is you who loses, but if you played better, you would have won instead.

Swearing and moaning about how much you lose will not help, sadly. The only way to up your rank is to utilize skill and intelligence to overcome the problems that WE ALL face as players on this site. Good players have high ranks, and poor players have low ranks. Become a better player, and you will see a corresponding rise in your rank.

I do have some tips on upping your rank, and I feel that they are very appropriate for you. Just follow my link, below:
