Pepsi Throwback

Post by Neoteny »

Have you had this yet? I just tried it. It's a lot more mild than the current type, but I can taste the "real sugar," which is nice. Jury's still out on this one. Any of you tried it yet?

I can already see this degenerating into a vs Coke thread. Before that happens, I'm going to say that I like both and don't have a preference, because I am a diverse individual who doesn't limit himself to a singular worldview.

I'm a Mountain Dew drinker and can honestly say that the Throwback ones have a better taste to them, whether it is due to the natural sugar or something else, I have no idea.

The Mountain Dew and Pepsi Throwbacks taste pretty good to me. I haven't decided if I like them better than the originals, but I can definitely taste the natural sweetness (and it seems like they are less carbonated, as well).

I don't think it's the carbonation that's been reduced. I think the sweeteners are that powerful in the current setup. The throwbacks are definitely more mild though. I don't dislike them, but I'm not really sure if I'm going to get them again. I suppose I still have 9 cans left to decide.

They have throwbacks for the Dew? I did not know that. I'll probably have to check that out as well.

Cherry everything is not my thing, and I'm pretty partial to my Dr Pepper. What is this gravy nonsense?

Cherry everything is not my thing, and I'm pretty partial to my Dr Pepper.

A bit of a coincidence here....I was shopping last weekend in Buffalo with my wife and one of her friends...that is the first time I saw Cherry Dr. Pepper...I mentioned that I thought Dr. Pepper already had a cherry flavour. My wife's friend said "No, it is more like a spice" and my wife said "It's not really cherry, but I can see where you'd think it is a similar taste."

But the posts above, it would seem that Juan thinks Dr. Pepper has a cherry taste, but Neoteny doesn't think so.

I'm gonna start a poll.

I've never been able to find any of there holiday flavors. I've always been curious what turkey soda would taste like.

The Fu-Fu Berry is also quite good, if you can get past the name :P

The actual description of the flavor of Dr. Pepper soda is "dark cherry" or "dark cherry spice." The two most dominate flavors in the cola are cherry and chocolate.
But I still prefer to call Dr. Pepper "the Waco."

If you think that one tastes better than the other, than you are obviously a creationist. And probably a pedophile. Don't hate, it's science.

Yeah right!! You're the guy buying that expensive exotic soda pop that never goes on sale!! And they never lower themselves to using cans!! Just clear bottles with fancy labels!! Don't deny it; you are a rich bastard doing his best to mingle with the common folk.

No actually here, in America they go on sale, about once a month, and they have them in cans also. Also I don't drink them all the time, that would leave little money for beer and cigarettes.

If I lived in America, I'd be an alcoholic. Beer is so cheap there.

And I'd chew way too much tobacco.

Or maybe I'd just drink and chew the same amount and buy fancy pop.

And they come in 4 packs that are more expensive than most 12 packs of coke or pepsi. Nice thing is that youre not supporting some water stealing multi-national when you buy Jones. I always get the Mandarin Orange and Lime uncarbonated juice when I go to Panera Bread.

Not in PA. Our Nanny State makes sure we don't hurt ourselves with the nasty beer. (Not to mention, keeps the extremely lucrative business of selling beer and liquor as practically a state-run enterprise.)
