Do you own a gun?

Post by captain.crazy »

If you do own a gun, how would you deal with living in Milwalkee after reading this article?

i do not own a gun and while i find them distasteful, there is a good argument to be made for the utility of hunting in keeping wildlife populations down. while they are pretty much proven awful for self-defense, i also really can't keep people from being stupid assholes and accidentally killing their kids i suppose.

i am staunchly opposed to assault weapons and concealable pistols though, as those are completely unnecessary unless you intend to commit a crime. there is also absolutely no reason to just walk around in public with a gun in your belt and outlawing it is a public good. prove me wrong.

I carry a gun most everywhere I go. I carry it for self defense. It is a last resort. I conceal it so that I do not scare the shit out of liberal pussies that see a gun and shit their pants because they were not raised with an understanding of what it is and what it is for. I thank God for the founding Fathers and the second amendment to the Constitution.

the second amendment was written back before we had a federalized standing army, when militias were the only form of self-defense the nation had for itself, and when there was a serious threat of invasion by a foreign power. it is about as relevant to the modern america as hamilton's insistence that paper money is "wicked."

also i am not certain why you are so vehement in calling me a pussy. should i ever meet you and should your dumb ass ever accidentally fire your concealed weapon at me, i will simply deflect the bullet with the power of my own intellectual superiority (i am that awesome).

i am merely concerned for the less utterly powerful women, children, and sissy men you may harm

Your source does not seem to have the ability to get a point across very well. Here's an easier to read source.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/43302252.html

I own a gun and am not overly disturbed by this fact. Nowadays, anyone who carries a gun around a supermarket or gas station is acting irresponsibly and should be questioned as to their intent. It's kind of common sense.

That's bullshit. What good can owning a gun be if you don't carry it. Fat lot of good having it will so if you keep it locked away. Keep it on your person and use it responsibly. Only as a last resort and only if you are in danger.

Why on Earth would you need a gun to go to the supermarket unless you are a police officer or about to rob the place?

Do you know exactly where you're going to be robbed? Crime happens anywhere, at any time of the day and night. He's carrying for personal protection. Car jackings happen in the parking lots of supermarkets all the time. Has nothing to do with the government.

The government comment has to do with the main reason people "need their guns." Sure, crime happens, but if we take the guns away, that will go down.

No, car jackings do NOT "happen in the parking lots of supermarkets all the time" in my area.

But you are mistaken. The real truth is that a gun is only of limited use in most assault situations. Why? Several reasons. Most importantly, they have surprise and lack of morals on their side. That's why police officers go through all kinds of training to learn correct use of firearms. Even so, police abuses ARE common.

So long as you have your conceal carry permit who cares? Obviously you are going to get hassled by people calling the police rather than asking you about it... but such are the times.

A few miles from here we had a "school shooting threat." It was on tv BEFORE school even started... that is amazing because
a) it caused huge panic
b) the threat came 20 minutes before school started
Here's what happened;
SEVERAL people called the police saying that a girl dressed in camo style military clothes was heading towards the school carrying a rifle. Of course, the police responded in minutes. The school was locked down, teachers were prepped, and police swarmed the school. The girl was stopped blocks before the school and the warning was called off before she ever got within sight of the it. SWAT was turned back. Well it turned out she was in JROTC and the wooden rifle was for part of her drill training. And no, she wasn't wearing camo, just her dark dress uniform.

So here we ahave a teenage girl who can't even carry a wooden rifle in public without it causing a major panic....

This stat is pretty old, but wal*mart had 23,000 car jackings and/or rapes/assualts a year in the US.

Yeah, I got a gun. It loads, aims, cocks, shoots, discharges the barrel, and reloads. I call it, "My Penis". Can I join the NRA now?

And the only ones who will have these weapons is the government. Do you trust your government that much, that you would freely allow them to be the only one's armed? I think our forefathers understood the danger of this and is why they protected the right to bear arms in the Constitution.

Wrong. If Jesus had a gun He wouldn't have used it. You don't think He could have stopped those Romans if He wanted to? It was part of the plan, my friend, that He die so that we could live.

This is why I do not own a gun. (even though I sometimes carry one at work) I can't think of a single situation Jesus would use a gun, so I don't think I will ever need one.

You are a pussy because you do not even trust yourself enough to take care of yourself. You wish for an all mighty government to take care of you and manage every aspect of your life. That makes you a pussy in my book.

You are now a retarded pussy, because you trust your government and you think that the fucking fiat money system is a worthwhile system.

Sure, trust your government... dumb ass!

Thanks Jay, thats kinda what I was getting at. The first time, Jesus came here to divide us. To bring the word and have us all decide where we stand on His truth... to we embrace it or reject it. When He returns, He is going to kick ass. No guns will be necessary then. I am buessing that Jones is not a Christian, because he does not know this.

Sounds like another good reason to avoid Walmart.

Seriously, I can quote statistics on crimes involving people who had guns but the guns were either turned against them, could not be used or even aggravated the situation.

Anyway, I don't deny there is crime, just if I had to carry a gun to feel safe, I would move.
