Did you watch the second video? They didn't find anything. And it seems like they lied about the probable cause.thegreekdog wrote:Sadly, if the guy had gotten out of the car, he wouldn't have been beaten.
In any event, I hope all those border patrol jackasses get fired and I hope someone gets sued. They did have probable cause to search his car, so anything that was in there that was a crime to possess would likely lead to this poor bastard being put in jail.
I watched the second video. Nothing lead me to believe they lied about probable cause except that the guy said they did.InkL0sed wrote:Did you watch the second video? They didn't find anything. If I was in his situation I'd have done the same, or at least threatened to sue them. But I still admire him for standing up to them.thegreekdog wrote:I watched the second video. If I had been in that guy's situation, I would have gotten out of the car (assuming no drugs or people were in my trunk).
But, hey, I'm anti-police state as much as anyone. I'm just saying the guy should have used common sense. If two guys walked up to me and said, "Give me your wallet," I give them my wallet... even if it's wrong. Then, I get them prosecuted after. This guy should have gotten out of the car, let them do the search, and then sue the living crap out of them and get them all fired.

Jay, you have to stop talking sense; I think the whole world is turning upside downjay_a2j wrote:thegreekdog wrote:I watched the second video. You can't sue after willingly allowing a search. The guy has constitutional rights and those cops didn't like him standing behind them so they beat the crap out of him. End of story. The problem with the "He just should have did as he was told" frame of mind is that we have rights, we should not have to bow down to authority figures who violate those rights. If the guy was lying about the dog then they should have had no problem bringing it back out... but they didn't. Why? Because they were lying, they had no probable cause.

I must say I found it odd that I agreed with an entire post of Jays!InkL0sed wrote:Jay, you have to stop talking sense; I think the whole world is turning upside downjay_a2j wrote:

Greedy lawyers.....
There is about a 99% chance that the guy was telling the truth about the dog. I'm pretty sure it is quite rare that those dogs make mistakes.jay_a2j wrote:If the guy was lying about the dog then they should have had no problem bringing it back out... but they didn't. Why? That isn't the point. The guy is not into this to make money. He was standing up for Freedom of the People.thegreekdog wrote:Actually, you can sue for anything. Not as rare as you might think:TheProwler wrote:There is about a 99% chance that the guy was telling the truth about the dog. I'm pretty sure it is quite rare that those dogs make mistakes
The dog must be trained, certified and reliable. The dog does not have to be 100% accurate or perfect. The courts have recognized the fact that “false responses”, “false positives” or “false alerts” occur and dogs can be as low as 54% accurate.
