this topic got me thinking though. not in the way it's meant, feeling sorry for the cooks, but wondering if we should have a lower rank. I think so. when I play a cook, its quite a big difference between a 799 point cook and a 100 point cook. mind, that's 600 points, but relatively it's 800% difference, which means a lot for point distribution after a game.
I say there should be a new rank below 500. we should have a brainstorming contest how to name it. first option: replace 'cook' with janitor, and have everybody beneath 500 be a cook.
of course this will raise debate on what is considered lower, a cook or a janitor?
Janitor's lower. No question about that.

How about "Puisne", it means "lower in rank" and is pronounced "puny". It's used mainly in legal settings though. But one could argue a low-rank soldier outranks a lawyer any day.

Perhaps a rank of "Medic" mite be better not so insulting but still relevant enough to the Army, perhaps push cook back down to 600 and make 800 for Medic.

Medic is a noble profession and should NEVER be considered below any rank.
