If Detroit doesn't win tonight the series won't start until next Sunday due to some bullshit programming conflict with NBC. That's right, the Stanley Cup Finals would be pushed back so NBC can premiere "America's Got Talent" or some other shitty summer program.

No kidding. I think the ice is melting. Goes from giving up 5 goals on stoppable shots to seemingly becoming Vishnu and having 6 arms.

I was disappointed when they scored, but I'm glad they did it tonight.

Well Serbia, I would like to shake your hand and say "good game" or "good series" or something like that but the reality is that we didn't give you guys much competition. At least now I can go back to rooting for them against the Penguins. I hope it's a better series.
But you know that Chicago is going to be the team of the future as they are a very young team

Definitely, the Blackhawks will be back. But in reality, they'd better do it soon, because in this salary cap world, it's going to be very tough for Chicago to keep all their young stars. Detroit is even going to be up against it - we'll likely have to choose between keeping Hossa or Hudler and Samuelsson.
Detroit really needs to get Lidstrom and Datsyuk back for the Finals though. Ericsson will be back for Game 1.

I heard Lidstrom should be back for game 1 but Datsuyk may miss the rest of the playoffs. Puck to the ankle and done? I hope not.

The Red Wings must be great billiards players. They've got the bank shot down.

Osgood was a wall. That's got to be disheartening. I can't believe he's gotten more beasty as he's aged.

That goal Franzen scored was a "Shanahan Special". That guy scored more goals from behind the goal line than anyone I've seen.

I was actually talking about the first goal. Stuart, I think.

Yes, Stuart. Joe Louis is known for having lively boards.

The thing that Detroit did in last night's game, that I think made the real difference, was making the Pen's stars indistinguishable from the rest of the team.

And I think that's where Detroit really shines. They did it with Patrick Kane, and to a large extent, Martin Havlat and Jonathan Toews as well. Ryan Getzlaf was able to have a good series against the Wings though, so it is doable. It will be interesting to see how long Detroit can keep Crosby and Malkin down. If they are able to keep them under wraps even close to what they did last year, then the Wings win the Cup again.
Tonight is do-or-die for Pittsburgh.

While I think I agree, if the Pens can take it home at 1-1, they'll have taken the upper hand.

Not sure I'll go that far. But the Pens need this one.
Good start for Detroit so far, shots are 7-2 Detroit.

2-1 Wings. Good game, these teams are both so good. Detroit really could use Datsyuk though.
