CBlake, this isn't a democratic poll about your tastes, homey. i'm a christian too, but our religious affiliation is irrelevant...the point is this: it is reasonable to assume, as lack has done, that MOST people on this site would not find this username offensive....even among us christians, there are plenty of people who are not prudes....i believe in a loving god and a resurrected son, but i also believe in freedom of expression, so bugger off w/ your urges toward thought control. you and ruben belong in a fundamentalist, theocratic state....which makes me wonder: do you vote republican?
Nephilm how can I vote Republican? I don't live in the States! :p What I don't like is the fact that I have used what you call freedom of expression to express my thoughts. It's okay if you don't agree and have a different opinion but you can't bash me for voicing my opinion because it goes against your original concept.
Btw, whatever anyone says this guy has gone against the forum guidelines, especially in his response to me on this thread if not for the username. Alas, I am sure he won't get punished for this. And anyway I had closed the thread but people just kept posting! Maybe we should move this to another section.

Rube, my question was directed at CBlake. And you seem to be confused: i'm not bashing you for expressing your opinion; i'm bashing your opinion b/c you want to restrict freedom of expression. I think you're in some pretty deep bullshit here: if i can't "bash you for voicing your opinion" then why did you ask for someone's username to be banned (an expression of their opinion)? what, it's different b/c it offends you?
the founder of the site has already ruled that this is not straight-up religiously based hate speech. you have lost the case, pal!

I agree entirely with Nephilim's point of view. Expression of opinion is a fundamental freedom, but in free and democratic societies we put limits on hate speech. The general consensus is that such limits are resonable and justified.
Here on CC, we take a liberal approach to moderation. But it isn't a free-for-all. We have moderators and guidelines. I find some things to be unacceptable, and I draw the line with Nazi glorification on the bad side and "molestedbygod" on the okay side. If you don't agree with where I or the other moderators draw the line (or that we draw a line at all) that's fine and you can voice your opinion. But it's our judgement call, and we will be selective and subjective.

It didn't mention any specific god, there are thousands of gods recognized by people all over the earth. Your god is just one of many. So the fact that your are Christian is irrelevant since the name didn't specify "ChristianGod..."
