We, the atheists of CC, hereby assert that there is no proof whatsoever for God's existence; we hereby claim that we can logically prove that any such alleged 'proofs' are false.

This is a thread in which any theist is welcome to advance what they believe to be an absolute 'proof' of God's existence to us. We atheists will then demonstrate these so-called 'proofs' to be false and demonstrably wrong.

Congratulations on failing at the first hurdle. Nobody is disagreeing with you.

To explain it to you one more time in the hope that you'll finally be able to wrap your mind around what's being said here (and in the two companion threads), we are saying that (1) nobody can prove God exists (with bollocks like ontology etc), (2) they can't even prove that God is more likely to exist than not, and (3) any notion of a God that cannot be shown to be less likely to exist than to exist can easily be demonstrated to be totally irrelevant to our everyday lives.

Got it now? See why the jaded old "uh, well you can't prove that he doesn't" response doesn't hold any water this time? Good... then how about trying to actually engage with the argument being advanced here, rather than just bogging us down in the usual old platitudinous humdrum.

I enjoy taking on different lines of thought. In fact I made it clear that the ontological argument was weird enough that I didn't quite buy it. That doesn't stop me from using it in a debate; this is the Internet. Even the most fundamentalist Christian doesn't know that God exists. Christ made it quite clear that faith is required to believe in His teachings.

Also, I think this recent outburst of threads by you is a great example of how atheism can incite people to action and generate fanaticism.

(1) Whoever said that it couldn't incite people to action? In that respect it is, shock horror, just like every other opinion on the planet.

(2) Fanaticism? How is this fanaticism? Or are we playing the old "try to sidestep the issue by accusing anybody who dares to point out the absurdity of our beliefs of being a fanatic" game again?

Anyway, good to see that you've failed to rationally engage with the arguments once again; instead choosing to engage in the ridiculous side-show argument of trying to equate logical probing of your beliefs with violent religious extremism. Good show.

Now hold on, that's something entirely different. I assert that I know God exists, and a good deal more about Him. I do NOT assert that I can prove that he exists to anyone else. As a matter of fact I have asserted from the beginning that I cannot.

I believe Science and pure logic are inconclusive on this subject. Whether a person decides to believe or not believe, he does so based on something else, then takes the facts and fits them into his own point of view.

Think of it, if God made it inescapably undeniable, what would he get? Millions more people acknowledging his existence and going through some rituals who really didn't want to. Trust me, he's already got more of that than he could ever want. No, I think he left it that if you don't want to believe in him, you don't have to. He's into relationship, not numbers.

Well when I say that I mean that you can't be 100% sure that He exists. Even if you believe that you have had some sort of revelation, there's always the slight possibility that your mind is fooling you.
