It is all so obvious to me now!!!!!Umfold wrote:I'm new here but it seems to me that a lot of these players are 'dummy' accounts. I think they are used to sucker people into buying the premium membership.
First they intentionally wait in between turns to frustrate the player. And they also don't really try to win so the player thinks they are really good and are more likely to buy.
Seriously - one game I'm in (4 players) not only have 2 players missed 2 turns but they've each taken 23+ hours between turns multiple turns as well. And it's different times of day - they aren't playing many other games. And - they suck at the game.
I don't believe these are real accounts.

Well I think his reasoning is rooted in pure logic and sound judgement underscored by a hefty dose of common sense. It explains so much without raising so many more questions. Furthermore, the sample poll the writer bases the argument on is in no doubt due to its size, 22 games completed out of around 5 million...ask any mathmetician, they will tell you this is a completely reasonable sample. Don't listen to these doubting Thomases, you carry on with the unfolding your theory (geddit...Mr Changsha wrote:It is all so obvious to me now!!!!!Umfold wrote:I'm new here but it seems to me that a lot of these players are 'dummy' accounts. Oh masterful noob, can you now explain where Lack as buggered off to ("Who's lack?" I can almost here him ask), why freestyle players can take double turns ("Huh? Never heard of those..."), how the new farming regulations have effected point distribution amongst the top 1,000 ("Que?"), why some maps make it out of beta ("Gaahhh so many new concepts and ideas!!!") when they really shouldn't and finally why CC are incapable of having a divisional scoreboard based on discipline.
I think your unique brand of circular reasoning would really shed some light in all of these areas too.
In expectation,

The sample size is easily large enough for a politician in pretty much any country. You may well be poking fun at a future world leader.Fruitcake wrote: Furthermore, the sample poll the writer bases the argument on is in no doubt due to its size, 22 games completed out of around 5 million...ask any mathmetician, they will tell you this is a completely reasonable sample.
absolutely classic. i havent seen someone admit failing so quick. i was going to post making fun of him. lmao! i had some good lines coming as well. but i cant use them now. arrrgh. if only more people admit that they are failures, the flaming would not be as severe in cc. maybe cooks should have their own failure threads?targetman377 wrote:whitestazn88 wrote:i disagree. i'd say maybe 10-15 at most. and of those, how many are active forum goers? 1-2 at most...targetman377 wrote:alotslowreactor wrote:I wonder how many people would go MIA if one university's server went down...
then again, it depends on the school. for example, ohio state or usc are what 50,000 enrolled? whereas a small school like uc berkely or uva will be around 20,000 max (probably closer to 15000).
if there are 20,000 active users worldwide, and there are 6 billion people in the world... well thats a small percent.
now that i think about that you are correct i fail
here's hoping.chipv wrote:The sample size is easily large enough for a politician in pretty much any country. You could always offer them extra credit for beating you... Not that they would, but it might enspire them ..Woodruff wrote:Upon further retrospection, I am absolutely certain that I have had a decent number of Pinkys in my classes...though I seem to have been short of The Brains.squishyg wrote:Maybe they're majoring in world domination, did you ever think of that?

It's funny you mention that. I've tried to get a few of my students who CLAIM they like strategy games over to the site, but as far as I know, none of them have shown up.PLAYER57832 wrote:You could always offer them extra credit for beating you... So long as you're not teaching proctology, you shouldn't be getting students like saxitoxin and coltonWoodruff wrote:It's funny you mention that. I've tried to get a few of my students who CLAIM they like strategy games over to the site, but as far as I know, none of them have shown up.

Lowest I think I've seen. Out of curiosity, what's the lowest and highest membership count (active on scoreboard) anyone can remember?azezzo wrote:18977 members on 76 pages:

Yes, but those of us who are here for a couple of years have a bit more of an idea about this than you.Umfold wrote:Ignorance is bliss they say...

Yes those stats are interesting, but I think the cause has yet to be established. Is it seasonal variance (and the holiday period always shows a drop off hence we always get these threads) or does it reflect a deeper issue THIS TIME?Artimis wrote:If you think the declining number of players on the scoreboard is a matter for concern, then you should read this thread at Pile of Awesome. The scoreboard is subject to seasonal variance, what is truly scary is the greater than expected drop in repeat custom.
