Actually he didn't. Simulation is only a yellow card offence in the LotG and the rule UEFA used clearly isn't meant to go after regular simulation. IMO a better use for the UEFA rule would be the AEK guy that got Saha sent off.

sam_levi_11 wrote:All ill say is it looks like Eduardo dived, but they need to make a rule about it to stop having to recind these bans.
Considering this was the first one rescinded (out of the two ever handed out) I really don't see that as being the main problem... ;)

The reason the decsision was overturned was not because they thought the rules were applied wrongly. It was because they said their was contact and that the ref stood by his decision.

I didn't seee the AEK thing, what happened?

The AEK fellow in question landed a hefty kick on Saha (Everton) so Saha slapped him, the ref didn't see the big kick but saw the innocuous slap and gave Saha his marching orders. I thought they were meant to be having 6 ref's (1 ref, 2 linesmen, 1 4th official and 2 goal-line observers) in Europa league games now so all 6 ref's missed the clear foul but not the titchy retaliation!

Yea and as much as I hate the retaliation stuff it wasn't really all that much a push/slap half behind his back hitting the AEK guy in the chest. It was stupid but really no more than a caution. But what made me reference it here was the fact that the AEK guy went down clutching his face and that made it a sending off, IMO completely undeserved.

Isn't the ruling that you get sent off just for raising your hand at them?

Also, Leeds still unbeaten! It's comeback season :D.

Man United 4-3 Man Shitty

Oooh... Bit close for my liking. We absolutely dominated but Given was like some kind of green-clad superhero, keeping it exciting right til the 6th minute of injury time winner, yes Daz, when only 4 mins had been declared (chuckle) great game though, even better result!

Man Ure 4 Man City 3

Barry, Bellamy 2.

what a fucking joke. yes man ure out played us in the 2nd half, but when the ref says 4 mins added on and the plays 7 fucking minutes. we scored in the 89 mins and 54 secs. add 30 secs for celabrations and another 30 secs for a sub. that is an additional 1min plus the 4. not fucking 7.

when there is trial by tv nowadays with the players, surely that ref should be relegated to the conference. what a twat. :x :x :x

ripped off completely. come back 3 times with 2 brilliant goals from Bellamy. even took my lad to the pub(4 City fans, the rest Man ure).

Totally agree, disgraceful decision by the ref. But hey, its Old Trafford, Man Utd need a goal, the ref adds a bit of extra time, whats new? Its been happening for about 15 years.

Btw, as I've said before, Given is the best keeper in the league, and definitely one of the best in the world.

Footytube generally does a good job of getting all the highlights, its what I normally use.

Alright, it went on a bit longer than expected but if you consider these points:
1) The board showing 4 mins was held up
2) United made a substitution
3) City scored
4) City conceded a foul
5) United scored
Now I'll admit that even counting a sub, the time for a celebration and the time for a free-kick doesn't add up to 3 mins you've gotta say it's not far off. Owen scored in 96th min so even if the ref had only added 2 mins for the sub, City goal and free-kick we'd still have scored.

Now let's hear no more about it ;)

I have to agree it was a cracking game though, it was pissing me off how we had all the possession, applied all the pressure, and then every time we scored they just ran straight down the other end and equalised! Bellamy and Given were awesome.

ps: while I think of it, I always thought that if a goalie had two hands on the ball, for the attacker to kick it out of his hands is a foul? So why did the ref let Tevez kick it out of Fosters hands when he clearly had two hands on it?!

I'm not 100% sure but I think you've got your points in the wrong order.

I don't think Foster ever had 2 hands on the ball at the same time, he looked to be throwing his arms everywhere at the time and just trying to get a touch on it rather then grabbing it and holding it with both hans.

Yeah fair enough some of the points may be in wrong order but surely addition is a commutative operation so the basic gist still stands?
It looked to me like Foster had two hands but I guess it was a bit fast/frantic to tell...

It's only a foul to challenge the keeper when he's in possession of the ball. And Foster never was.

The fourth official indicates the minimum additional time decided by
the referee at the end of the final minute of each period of play.

The announcement of the additional time does not indicate the exact
amount
of time left in the match. The time may be increased if the
referee considers it appropriate but never reduced.
I bolded the important parts. 8-)
