Freestyle taking a turn after you end your turn

Post by misher »

<Subject>:
When a player takes the 2nd last turn in freestyle, just before timer runs out and the last player misses his turn, that player is immediatly allowed to take another turn. This allows him to wait till the end of the round, take his turn-and take over things, wait 5 mins for the other player to skip his turn cause of time limit, and then he may go again. I belive this is a bug because
of the instructions which state:

Play Order

In a freestyle game it doesn't matter in which order players take their turns. After the last player takes his turn, a new round begins immediately. The player who triggers a new round is not allowed to take a second back-to-back turn and must wait for someone else to play.

This rule is avoided when another player in freestyle misses his turn.

Well everyone else in the game knows exactly when the new round will begin as well. If it looks like someone is going to deadbeat, EVERYONE can watch for it and begin their turn immediately as the new round begins.

also, if its a carded game the player forfeits a card for this if its no cards...join him....

personally, ive never done this, but have thought about it when it gets down to do or die....if everyone is waiting to the end, i do too...

also, you can go to callouts and find players that will play without doing this

you just have to be aware of the possibility and adjust your strategy

nope thats the way it is, and if it is a bug, how do you propose to fix it?

When a player takes the 2nd last turn in freestyle, just before timer runs out and the last player misses his turn, that player is immediatly allowed to take another turn. This allows him to wait till the end of the round, take his turn-and take over things, wait 5 mins for the other player to skip his turn cause of time limit, and then he may go again. I belive this is a bug because
of the instructions which state:

Unless there were only two people playing then the other person could have taken his turn and there would be no problem. This is how freestyle is meant to be played, do you have anything against taking a turn (which was the last of the round) and sitting at the computer and waiting for someone to start their turn and then jump in?

however, if there are only 2 teams (like playing triples, or doubles with 4 ppl, or when there are only 2 ppl left, etc), one team (the one which must play first) can prevent the other team from playing until the very last minutes, thus forcing the opponents to lose their turn and thus taking a double turn.

I don't think this is fair.... what do you guys think? I've already suggested in other thread that the 24h limit be reset as soon as the first freestyle player plays. It's fair, since it would thus allow the player who finished the last round to have a 24h turn too (instead of having (24h - 1st player delay)).
