Most of the laws which infringe on my ability to live freely exist to protect these two groups.
I will not allow myself to be drug down by the least common denominator or most unfit social factor.

Such laws often exist to protect these groups but it is also common for these laws to protect people from such groups. This is more common with stupid people than with children.
Either way, if a law would inhibit liberty it should not be.

Oh? So if I feel like shooting you in a fit of rage, I should have the right to do so without the fear of consequence? Let's be realistic. There are reasons we have laws.
You would never succeed, though I don't see how this is related...

This thread is for tomorrow when people are awake.

Hate? No..
I don't hate children, in fact I think people should be having more of them than they are. I don't hate stupid people either, but it is wrong to impose things on people because other people are stupid.

It is wrong to impose things on one group of people because of another.
I'm not sure what else to say..

OK. So you get to the root of your theory.
That's all I wanted.
And yes I agree.
For example, just because some Republicans don't want free health care, Democrats should not be stopped from offering free health care to people that are like-minded from them. Right?
It's fine if they want to offer free health care but it is wrong for them to raise taxes to do it.
People have the right to keep their own money. People are not entitled to the fruits of another person's labor (unless we are talking about children).

No, health care is not a right. Health care would be a right if people were paying taxes specifically for it, but it is wrong to impose taxes on one person to pay for the expenses of another.
People are not entitled to be taken care of by other people unless they are children.

But you are already paying for uninsured people to receive health care. So, why not make it free for the rest of us?
Let me just come out and say that yes I am for protecting children and Yes Neo's post is ridiculous. Is anyone surprised by either of these things?
I don't have a problem with stopping for school buses or slowing down in school zones. I think children should be protected from predators. They should also be protected from people who would seek to indoctrinate them with an ideology which is in contradiction to their families traditions (so long as the traditions are rational). I'm even for a free and public education.
With that said, there is only so much which can be imposed on everyone for the welfare of this one group of people. Keep in mind all regulations which are put in place to serve people in their adolescence will one day inconvenience them.
Aside from taking a harder stance on child predators, I think there are already more than enough regulations in place to protect children.
