Well, I have to admit that I think they were trying to be more funny, than actually demeaning.

It is perhaps technically bigotry, because it is an insult based on region of area lived, and a perceived income associated with it...but it really is a stretch to call it racial abuse, since its simply impossible to discern the race of someone simply because of where they live.

I wouldnt be surprised to see a warning though, because whether or not they parked in a bigotry spot is difficult to know for sure, but they are driving through the lot looking for a space.

There have been way to many complaints about someone cracking a joke about some country or another. It's a very slippery slope to big brotherhood if all of a sudden everything someone doesn't like is relegated to a hate crime.

I for one grew up in Canada and I take offense to what he said. It's like me saying that all African Americans are lazy no good welfare sucking bums. I am stereotyping them. This is exactly my point. Equating a population of people who live in a geographical region under a set of rules to a genetic race is a complete fallacy, and idiocy like this is causing trouble here. Defaming a RACE is considered a bad thing in society because you can't help your genetic make up, and it envokes views of an inferior species.

Defaming a group of people who live in a certain place and under a certain set of rules is still an opinion because those people DECIDE to live there and do that. THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM RACISM because you can't escape your race.

So unless it gets decided that giving people shit about anything, such as their love for unicorns or the fact they call underwear bloomers, is now taboo on CC, stop envoking racism and running to mommy moderator.

that category. How the mods want to deal with that should be up to them.
That can be a fine line depending upon who you are.
