A few ideas (in no particular order):

(1) Have yearly awards voted on by players (similar to what I've been unsuccessfully attempting to do in Monkey Business and what L M S has been attemping to do in this forum).

(2) Bring back Flame Wars. I know, you said not to post this, but for some reason I'm able to actually type it without being booted. Go figure. Anyway, I've made my arguments before on this subject (you don't have to go into flame wars if you don't like it, etc.)

(3) Farming Rules - I agree with Woodruff's policy.

(4) Bans - Tone down the escalation (which has already been suggested). It doesn't make sense to get 1 day for racism and 6 months for trolling because of the escalation. Maybe we need to have some sort of "trial" (for lack of a better term) with 3 mods voting (instead of one mod deciding).

(5) Bans #2 - When someone is reported for a violation, it should be made public. If Player X gets banned, we should be permitted to know who reported him/her and why he/she was reported. There should be both accountability by the reporter and moderators in addition to the accused.

I think it would be nice to not have stars, and just use tags for ratings. Then you could see which tags were used most to describe a player, to see what they are like.

A Humble Suggestion Regarding Bans:

Make a forum ban a ban on the FORUM.

NOT A PM BAN AS WELL

If someone abuses PM, then ban them separately. PM's are too integrated into the gaming aspect of conquer club to be an appropriate punishment for trolling or whatever in the forums. Especially with the escalating forum punishments. You can't invite people to games, see if your friends are gaming or online, compete in tourniments, run any kind of clan business, ect.

Also, it would be nice to still be able to have access to your private groups, such as clans, social clubs etc. They are policed within themselves, so some trouble flaming someone in the general forum should not have to make you quit your clan.

I think if I was lack, I'd spend at least an hour a day playing the game/on the forums: If lack played freestyle speed, we'd have had 2 minute speed games a LONG time ago.

If I were lackattack...

I would be keep an eye on the key forums and topics but stay low key and put out a team of admins as an official presence in the community. I'd similarly avoid joining games and filter incoming PMs to Team CC members. All this because even though I care deeply about our members, my load of day-to-day stuff would otherwise be so huge I'd have no time left for programming, which is what this website really needs.

I would try harder to make public appearances, though.

I would try to program a new feature or significant improvement every month.

I would try to give more resources to all volunteer-run departments, from the foundry to clans, to help them do more to make this website fun for the rest of us.

I would back our moderators in their effort to create a more positive atmosphere in the community. While keeping things quite liberal, I'd put the interests of the majority that wants to play games and discuss in good spirit over the interests of the minority that wants to be nasty.
