Etiquette

Post by Dayad »

I just wanna know how to go about things.... and I have a few specific concerns.

What's this places view on randomness? Because I do that.

Also, suggesting a move to an opponent which is clearly in his short term disfavor, yet would be noted as the most optimal way to disbalance a powerful player? Because I did that, and will probably do it again. Because while I try to do such moves myself, sometimes I'm simply not in the position to do anything.

Do people actually check those little chat messages at the bottom?

Is it proper for me to go into long winded explanations of why people inherently suck, and why the other players are obviously inferior to me in every way, physically, emotionally, and mentally? Is it proper for me to be rude to people who do?

And what's the most friendly way to say, "you're mean"? Or "f*ck off"? Or "lets have random sex on your couch - I'm already waiting"?

>>
<<

Not that I'd do any of the last 5 things, but just asking for asking sakes.

Aside from all that,

Well, this is my first post on this forum, and quite possibly my last, I dunno.

So I GUESS I'll take a short time to introduce myself.
I'm witty when I want to be, and stupid most of the other time. At least, I use that image to my advantage when it comes to social situations. And, surprisingly, it works. Normally. Which is why I do it.

I like sugary drinks, and alcoholic drinks too - but they have to taste good. I'm not into the whole, alcohol for achohol's sake. Stuff as to taste good. I like tacos, nachos, and long walks on the beach, or in the mountains, or in a nice park. I like dgos, cats, birds, but not rats. Unless they're cute rats.
I eat souls on occasion, but due to my friend's figuring this out, I've been saving what I currently have for special occasions. Like when I run out of normal snakes. I mean snacks.
My favorite drink, or rather, the drink I drink most, is pure water. h2o, Mm-mm.
Aside from when people insult my loved ones, I feel no malice towards anyone (though I can fake it pretty good), and I believe myself to be a good art critique (Art here ranging from drawings to songs to works of literature).

Lastly, I love this smilie, because of the little goatie. :ugeek: Isn't it cute? Isn't it? Awwwww.

Well, that's me, and those are my questions.

Aside from, what exactly does "Foeing" someone do? I've seen it around on the forum, but have seriously no clue as toward what it does.

Sincerely,
Dayad

That amuses me. But no, I'm not narcissist.
Also, my question about the randomness? That was a legit question. I seriously want to know.
How do people handle that stuff here?

My question about foeing was also legit, but I was messing around afterwards and found out.
But thank you anyways =p

With a big fat yawn. You're boring. I read half of your first section and didn't even get into the meat of the post? Screw that. Either be random and concise or random and interesting, or better yet, all three.

It is a side reference to William Defoe. When you "foe" someone you are accusing them of being a good actor -- like bogarting is accusing someone of holding the joint too long.

@Snorri => I'm not one for fitting in. Unless everyone acts as I do, which case I'll simply fit in by definition.

Meh, the random intro wasn't supposed to happen when I started the post; it just did. I generally am concise. Succinct. But not always, as seen here. As for interesting, well, I'd like to think that I am, and if one accepts that a trait is in the eye of the beholder, then, well, I am interesting. So screw it.

@Woodruff => Maybe I don't want to.
Nah, no maybes about it. I simply don't want to.

Ah, but, you already know what foeing is, oh Corporeal 1st Class Woodruff.

And, as seen below (underlined emphasis added), I found out already. So what would be the point?

Well there is certainly lots to work with here.

My view of 'randomness' is that it simply doesn't exist. In the most technical sense it's perfectly impossible for something to be random. Even random number generators aren't really all that random. Everything has a reason even if we can't perceive the reason why.

I do not mean that in a spiritual sense but you can certainly view it that way. Perspective changes a great many of things, but most of all, meaning.

As for your second question...I haven't the foggiest clue. I've never even heard of it.

Welcome, by the way to the forums. I read here mostly, rather than posting.

Hi, Dayad, and welcome to the time-warp, where hours of your possibly precious life will certainly be wasted.

DoS is pretty effective for speed games, I hear.

Usually when it's too late.
Is it proper for me to go into long winded explanations of why people inherently suck, and why the other players are obviously inferior to me in every way, physically, emotionally, and mentally? Is it proper for me to be rude to people who do?
Not unless you want to bore us.

I think someone has already subtly implied "f*ck off," but I could be wrong.
So I GUESS I'll take a short time to introduce myself.

Have you copied and pasted most of this post of yours from an online dating site?
I like sugary drinks, and alcoholic drinks too - but they have to taste good. I'm not into the whole, alcohol for achohol's sake.
A single malt scotch, neat, tastes good. If you like sweet stuff, then I hear Zima's, Mike's Hard Lemonade, and wine coolers are pretty good, too! ...
I eat souls on occasion, but due to my friend's figuring this out, I've been saving what I currently have for special occasions. Like when I run out of normal snakes. I mean snacks.

snakes--snacks, tee-hee, the wit is killing me. Snake flesh really tastes good, but it's skin can be a bit chewy. I prefer drinking its venom and blood, and its jizz is surprisingly not bad. All of this blends well with two follow up shots of good strong Chinese white liquor. But, I had to pass on the snake shit and piss cocktail because I just wasn't up to it.
Aside from when people insult my loved ones, I feel no malice towards anyone (though I can fake it pretty good), and I believe myself to be a good art critique (Art here ranging from drawings to songs to works of literature).
My rubbish aside, have you written any critiques and have they been published? I'm more than likely to read them. But before you answer that, what do you usually comment on?

I go to sleep, and this happens.
WOOT!

Any ways.....

Woodruff, I'm certain that, should we get around to it, that you shall best me in a game - and that will certainly heal your bruised ego.

@Falkomagno => I want love, a long life (without much suffering), a cosy place near a lake, possibly in a mountain valley, possibly said cosy place could be a farm... I want less killing, I want better acting, I want less people bullshitting themselves, I want sleep, I want to cook me some food, I want to slowly torture someone to death, I want to have a gaming system that plays everything, I want..... too much for me to bother thinking about right now. Because I am sleepy, and even if I wasn't, I'd still not care enough to go on.

Why, you go off spouting scientific truth and then you ruin it! "In the most technical sense it's perfectly impossible for something to be random." (emphasis added) Simple grasp o' math tells ya that nothin's impossible; just a lot of stuff is improbable. Quantum Mechanics proves that, and if you wanna say that there are probably, most likely, rules behind the "evidently" random creation and destruction of particles, well, I'll agree with you, and then I'll point out that those rules, like everything else, change upon being observed, which shows that those rules are not definite. Even the program that runs the Universe isn't unchangeable, so all is possible.

@BBS => you're the second! =p
No, I don't do online dating services, and truthfully, don't need the help. *frazzled*

Okay. I've eaten snake. I've eaten lots of stuff that's outlandish. But teh jizz de la snake?!
*bows*

Mm, I try to encompass everything when I give a critique, from abstracts such as the over-all meaning of a piece (if there is one aside from "I felt like drawing") to things like, "You colored outside the line." I don't bash just to bash, I give constructive criticism; on really good pieces I nit-pick, not because I'm a bastard, but because I'm trying to help. And I point out that I'm really just nit-picking and that the piece tis awesome.
As for my critiques, most of them are on forums which are now, sadly, off-line. Sadly in some cases. In others.... rawr. Most of the others are on writing forums that you can't have access to. None of my critiques have been published in paper form, and for the past year or so I fell out of the habit of giving them, because some people who ask for them are really just asking for an ego stroke. And I don't do that. But I recently opened an account on dA, and am thinking of starting again, because most of the community doesn't seem to be like that (but not all), or so I've seen.
As for why I got into it, a lot of my friends are artsy, writing or drawing constantly, and they asked me my opinions... because evidently I'm awesome. As for music, well, heh, I play! With guns and little glass cups.

Dude...posting in a public forum that you have a sawed off shotgun (which intimates that it is illegal) is not too bright. Hopefully it is simply a home-D type with an 18" or greater barrel :(

I'm well aware of the legal issues with a sawed gun, but you should be aware that there are companies out there that take normal shotguns and convert them into sawed off shotguns - yes, companies based in the U.S., which do the service for a nominal fee. Just because it's sawed does not mean that it is illegal - though I admit that simply stating that without going further to explain this unfortunately does leave the implication that it is illegal.
I thank you for your concern, but everything was done legally, and there is no issue for concern - I only have it in case of burglary, which is also the point of the handgun. And, yeah bragging rights.

I would be interested in a link to a company that does this (if indeed it is something diffrerent than simply having a barrel at 18" with associated accessories).
