You might as well stop now. However, this will help you when you get out of elementary/middle school.

In high school, and on many college tests, there is an essay part to them. The essays are timed to the point where you either know what you are talking about very well, or you have to think and don't come anywhere near finishing. In either case, you will still be pressed for time, making your legibility, spelling, and grammar a lot worse than it normally is.

What does all that mean?

It means that if you already do not have legible handwriting, good spelling, and good grammar, you will either receive a poor score on the essay, or perhaps a 0% on it if your handwriting is illegible. I would highly advise learning spelling and grammar to at the very least a 6th grader level if you want to pass LA and the essay parts of all other tests when you get into high school and college.

I think in-class essays started in 7th grade for me. I have about one a month in several subjects.
