Not if the earth warmed so much as to bring about an ice age earlier than would have happened otherwise... Its complex sure...but the earth isnt exactly a simple little ecosystem is it.

that is the problem and risk of global warming of course...not just the warming...and the rise of the oceans that will cover millions and cities..but the fact that the end result is an ice cube that would take a few million years to thaw.

Yes, and its refreshing to see you understand it now... As crazy as it may sound. Substantial changes in the earths atmosphere such as dumping in more CO2 than it has ever seen in its entire history of existence can actually have some dramatic effects.

Since the earth has warmed before, and then cooled for millenium, it is actually very logical to assume it will happen again.

The fact that it coincides with high levels of C02 in the atmosphere...once again makes it fairly easy for even a normal person to understand.

I do agree though.. that it is very difficult to understand such things through a think veil of denial.

I suppose its much more logical to believe that some great power just takes care of such things. I mean.. theres a really old book that says there is after all. And plenty of witnesses....well, the book says there were.

unfortunately, not all of us are as confident in your book that says we have a grand protector that will take care of everything... so some of us actually worry ourselves with such things...

Seriously though... it would be pretty silly science to base such an important theory on one year, or a few days worth of data...thats why millions of years worth of data have been used, and why, while some argue against it....most scientists and even semi-educated lay people understand the implications of what is happening. Personally, I do find it ironic, though explainable that believers in religions and god are less likely to believe in the science...but again...that is reasonably understandable.

My dad came up with an explanation. we all know about the holes in the ozone layer, so he said that because of the holes in the summer time we get really hot, and when winter rolls around what does heat do? Rises! So the heat goes out through the holes. Viola! Very hot summers and very cold winters, except here in Calgary.

Lets see, as I remember the summers were hotter when I was a kid than they are now. I think we MIGHT have had 1 or 2 days above 90 last summer. And I can most definitely remember colder winters. We are not going to destroy the planet because we are not "GREEN". It's absurd. Volcanoes emit more toxins into the atmosphere than we could ever hope to. Yet volcanoes have been erupting since the formation of the planet. In the 70's we were afraid of going into an ice age, 30 years later we are "warming". Give me a break will ya?

that's weird, because in Britain when it's cold we use celcius, but when it's warm we use fahrenheit. it must be to make us feel warmer with the higher number and colder with the lower number. it's a conspiracy. mind games, fooking mind games.
