[Public Opinion Poll] Admins/Mods in Clans and Usergroups

Post by Optimus Prime »

Okay, so this may seem like a poll/discussion that is coming way out of left field, but it is something I'm genuinely curious about and have personal experience with being a former clan leader turned moderator turned admin over time.

Right now the current policy we follow here on Conquer Club is that moderators are allowed to be members or leaders of clans and/or usergroups, but that admins are to abstain from such activities in order to maintain an unbiased opinion of things if trouble should ever arise where admins need to step in and deal with things.

I have my own thoughts on the issue having been in so many different positions regarding it, but I'll keep them quiet for now as I'd truly like to here the sincere opinions of our forum community on the issue. Please vote in the poll and I encourage everyone to voice their more detailed opinions and thoughts in the thread as well.

I look forward to seeing where this discussion goes. I'm going to allow the option for votes to be changed as discussion commences in case minds are changed due to reasoned argument. :)

i didnt read your post, but i have no problem with admin/mods joining clans.

but if something comes up that could make you biased, then you should let andy/you/lack take care of it. so you are not forced to make a biased decision.

I don't necessarily see an Admin being in a clan a bad thing. I can see where some people would feel one clan would have an advantage over another or people having favorites. Having Admins in clans can can also show that they are involved in other ways. Every mod or admin was a member FIRST. If there was favoritism being shown, then I could see where actions would have to be taken.

Besides... Most people know Twill was a secret Bandit..

admins should in my eyes be nutural, and therefore not even have a clan. Moderators in the other hand is just helping hands for the admins. They hold the forum clean and so on, And last but not least. They do not have any change to change or missuse admintool. :)

I don't think the admins would like to be nutured.

Seriously, I think admins and mods should be allowed in clans and usegroups. But Admins should abstain from any action involving thier clam or usergroup members.

Usergroups i would say are ok, but Clans i would have to say no.

I trust the admins, but there would be too much temptation to look at the opposing clans forum etc. Not saying any of them would, but best to avoid any accusations ;)

Mods definitely should, but admins I'm not sure... conflict of interest comes to mind. However I'm sure the admins at CC have enough integrity to separate their own clan's interests from their official duties. So, what the hell, let the admins in.

If there needs to be restrictions I'd say a good compromise would be that admins couldn't be clan leaders, but could be in clans as members.

Minority vote here: I have no issues with Admins or Mods participating in all aspects of the site. If they are not trustworthy then they shouldn't be Admins or Mods.

As long as there is a clear process around conflicts of interest, then Admins should be allowed to join clans.

Most of the mods are in clans so not sure why that was even mentioned. Does lack finally want to join a clan? Oh, and if so, then admins should not be allowed to be in the same clan.

If the site trust you enough to give you certain powers I don't see why your integrity should be questioned?

Moderators should be allowed in both, admins should only be allowed in Usergroups. If a Mod is biased and makes a crappy decision, us normies can always take it to the admins, but if the admins are already leaning one way...things get messy.

Personally i have no problem with admin or mods being clan members, or even leaders.
There are bound to be some who would be completely against the idea. As there are criminals who are against surveillance cameras, saying they infringe their human rights.
In my opinion. If Mods or Admin want to enjoy other aspects of the site then it should be allowed. Only those with an ulterior motive or guilty conscience would be against it.

i agree with natty on this one, as i do on many issues. I do think that mods should have the right to be in usergroups, and, in some cases even lead them. they should not, however be allowed to become leaders after they are mods, unless it was a long time coming. The admins should be allowed, if not encouraged to join. On this i think that they should be forced to give up leadership.

They both absolutely should. They are big enough people to seperate work from fun and anyone that harps about it would be one that harps about the wind changing anyhow.

I have tried for years to get a few of those pilgrims into xi and this stumbling block is annoying......

One option. The one I would vote for was left off your poll.

ADMINS/MODS should NOT be allowed to be in clans except one for them only and CAN be in any social/usergroup.

So no vote.

There already is a lot of mods in clans currently, not sure what you are asking? Perhaps, you are asking if admin's can join clans too since mods already can and are in them?

Anyways, I voted yes to both, I do not see why they should NOT be allowed? :-s They have every right to as anyone else.
If so, Lackattack, will you join our clan? Pm me :D I asked 1st

Let 'em play! Yes and Yes.

The Admins and Mods could start their own competitive clan........just for themselves, hmmm :?: .

The CC clan system simply isn't set up that having a mod or admin would benefit them in any appreciable way. Unless there was some favouritism going on in the forums (but a lot of us feel that way anyway, so it wouldn't really make a difference).

why vote? the last public opinion poll we were told that the results weren't any of our business by the admin that started the poll, when people asked for the results!!! do what you want, you don't truly want public input.

If I start a thread asking for the opinion of the public it means I want to know what they think. That doesn't always mean I see it necessary to do anything with the information at the moment, but gauging opinion is helpful to me even if it is solely for my benefit as Operations Manager. If anyone isn't interested in providing their opinion or feedback they are more than welcome not to, and can let the threads die peaceful deaths. ;)
