How's your weather this winter?

Post by Coastal Brute »

I live in southern British Columbia, Canada, and have lived in this region since 1987 and I can't remember a winter like this for being so warm with the average High lately being 8'C/47'F . I'm aware we are in an 'El Nino' weather pattern that causes us here in the West to be a few degrees above the norm and a bit wetter than usual.

How has the winter been where you live in the U.S., Canada or around the world? Normal, unusual or record-breaking? They've just reported on the news that there are cows freezing in the fields of Arizona or Texas!

I live *1766 miles north of Texas and with the exception of a couple weeks back in November, I've played golf all winter :D . You would think I'd be better :?
I even have flowers starting to poke out! In January! In Canada!

Cheers

In Wyoming, which is a bit South and East, we are still waiting on snow and ice from October to melt. There have been far more days under 20 F, then over 32 F since.

We're having an oddly consistent winter. Well, up until the last week, or so.

That's depressing. Why do you live out there? what's the point? Do you really enjoy freezing cold temperatures?

I moved from Reno, Nevada to Lincoln, Nebraska. By definition, that means my weather this winter SUCKS ASS.

In Ohio, it seems to change alot. Last week it was in the 40's and all the ice was melting. Yesterday it was below 10 Fahrenheit pretty much all day (4 when I got up) and it was snowing a little bit. Right now its 5, but sunny and not windy!

well, that might be a little much...but we deal with the snow in the north east all the time....but, what are the other options?

the snow does suck, but the roads are almost always clear, and are always clear the next day for the most part. we barely get hurricanes, no earthquakes to speak of, no tornadoes, not much of a chance of widespread forest fires, we do get some mosquitoes, and some isolated flooding, no killer bees(yet)... it looks great in the spring and fall...and summers are usually around perfect if occasionally too warm or humid...which can be avoided by moving to the coast...and the economy just isnt as bad as many places. So, what are the real options?

Eratic. My girlfriend walked to my house from school (only about a 10 minute walk) with her relatively light winter jacket on and she was sweating. Definitely above 0C. Few days later, it was below -14C.

lol that's so weird, here in Belgium (and much of Europe) we have had some record breaking cold and snow in many places... Scotland had the coldest January & December since records began, and in Poland it was -37°C recently

Very wet in central Illinois. The temperature has been very erratic, however that's what it's always like in central Illinois.
