So, right. For those not in the know our government parties recently got the boot again (4th time for the current prime-minister!). After epic fails and incompetent leadership they said f*ck it and half of the ministers walked out. In a parliamentary democracy this is not good because to get anything done we rely on a majority which agrees with you.
So the next elections are in June probably.
The party which walked out of the government (the PvdA) had some problems. They, however, decided to f*ck that noise and have the leader resign to spend more time with his kids and the mayor of Amsterdam got the position. For some weird reason this got a lot of support. People who previously didn't give a f*ck about him now start facebook-pages dedicated to him and the party got shitcrazy results in the recent polls. They even managed to steal the topposition in the polls from the xenophobic rightwingish party (PVV) in a time when being a xenophobic racist is totally cool.
So, for all peoples on these here forums. What are your thoughts about this? Are you more in agreement with the racist motherfucker who hates everything islam, the socialist failing mayor of Amsterdam or the christian conservative who had 4 tries for a government and failed them each time? Do you even know anything about dutch politics?

Don't know a great amount about Dutch politics, apart from that Wilders is a complete prick. The mayor of Amsterdam who became the leader of the party, is he (she?) the one who brought about the restriction on mushrooms in the past couple of years?
I voted D66 in the poll as it sounds like who I would vote for. Are CDA like Merkels CDU in Germany?

Yup. Also the dude who ok'd a new metro-line which is basically now fucking with the budget of teh city. Too expensive, unlikely to really be a benefit but he said they had done nothing wrong. (Despite several people claiming they did by not giving a f*ck about anything.)

Yeah they're centre-christian. A little more left than the CDU though they ally in the EU because they agree on the basics.
D66 is the party which I sort of agree with but they have a tendency to not backing their shit up.

D66 sounds like what I would go with out of that list. Don't you have a Pirate Party?

If they're anything like the German CDU I'd say 4 prematurely fallen governments in a row is a success for everyone else.

How come you don't like the CDU?
Some 10 or 12 laws the highest German court ruled were unconstitutional in the span of less than 5 years might have something to do with it.

Weirdly enough D66 and VVD are probably the parties most like the Pirate party. (I mean, we have a pirate party I believe, but man those dudes are weird.) D66 mostly. They're incredibly liberal socially and financially they're sort of on par with the VVD and the rest is way more with the "moar taxes" thing. Normally I would vote for them or the VVD but they've basically decided to f*ck the noise and argue that Wilders is bullshitting and it appears to pay out for them but they're going too far into the left-field for my taste.
Most parties that aren't christian are pretty much liberal in most ways except that the socialist party and the worker's party occasionally think about maybe perhaps possibly getting more income taxes. But they aren't really going to do that and since you get a 52% tax on anything you make over 50k they don't need to anyway it's basically a status quo on the whole taxes thing.
In fact, most of the election is based around social issues because financially almost all parties agree enough. Aside from christian parties it's a choice between the parties that are okay with the current taxes and the parties which are sort of okay with the curent taxes.

Yeah, CDU fucking sucks. They're pretty much the CDA here except they aren't failing as hard. (which honestly isn't that hard, just suck less than Balkenende and you're good to go.)

Seriously, how come? I've really got to start expanding my news sources. Do you know any good English-language continental Europe news sources? I've got a couple on the EU and Brussels but don't know any good pan-European ones.
yeah wilders is pretty crazy. i mean at least the folks in the bpp and other fascist organizations in europe are honest about being fascist. he's too spineless to even admit that.

hey guys, the election is tomorrow! seems the VVD is going to be the biggest party. The made economics the most important topic this time and especially cutting down on expenses to get out of debt in the future.
WHOOOOOO VOTING!

Especially when you figure there are fringe political parties actually dedicated to loving veggies (according to the poll). Can you imagine the debates over that party's platform if they were televised? I can just see the nominee from that party being caught up in a scandal, being accused of eating a hamburger.

where in holland do you live?
i spent four years working there from 94-98 and all the dutch i spoke to had had enough of morrocans and turks. holland has huge problems and is one of the biggest countries who are experiencing 'white flight'.
should the dutch roll-over and let their land be overwhelmed again?
is the centrum democratie party still going? i'd vote for them.
