I would predict the Lakers. For these reasons:

1) Kobe is the best most inspired player in the game now.
2) Gasol is playing better than he was two years ago.
3) The Celtic stars are all getting older.
4) The Lakers have home court.
5) Rondo's back will probably hurt worse in the next few days than it did during the Celtics' last game.
6) Paul Pierce needs to shave.

Rondo's back is the key to the whole series IMO. If he can play inspired ball and isn't hurt badly the Celtics have a good chance. If he isn't 100% I say Lakers in five or six, if he plays well it goes seven.

lakers, no doubt.

kobe's got +10 on pierce all day
gasol's got +10 on garnet all day
also imagine if odom and artest get in their groove!

whose going to make up for this?
only chance celtics have is if rondo plays out of this world. rondo works best if he can drive just dont see him taking it to the ring that often if he's going to get smashed by 3 7 foot beasts time and time again. Also this guy's young, he may be able to produce 1 or 2 great showings but not 4.

Lakers have proven they can pop you for 120 points a game in the suns series. Celtics cant keep up that tempo and have to play serious (read:dirty) D if they want to keep the score low and stand a chance.

lakers in 6

1. The Celtics play better team defense than the other teams. Granted Kobe is good in the 2 man game with Gasol, but the Celts have shown that they can contain that. When that gets contained, Kobe tries to play 1 on 5 and we all saw what happened in 08 Finals Game 6 when that happens. It was only the biggest blowout in Finals history.
2. Gasol fits into the Lakers system better, but the Celtics still contain his strengths. Just as importantly, they make him work at the defensive end. Other teams have not been doing that. When a player is fatigued, his offense becomes very containable.
3. KG is the biggest worry with his knee. I think he is 90 percent of what he was 2 years ago. But Pierce is about the same age as Kobe and he is playing equally inspired basketball. Ray Allen is 34, but he is in great shape and his conditioning is not at all an issue. In Game 4 of the 08 Finals he played the entire 48 minutes.
4. Home Court is important, but the Celtics do have the best road record.
5. I don't see Rondo's back being an issue. It looked like nothing but a bruise. It's not a disk or a strain. I doubt he'll even need a cortisone shot.
6. Pierce will shave when Kobe stops raping girls! Or better yet, he'll shave when Pau no longer looks like a European hitchhiker.

The Lakers have height, the Keltics have defense. (Keltics win)

The Lakers have Kobe, the Keltics have Rondo. (Lakers win)

The Lakers have home court advantage. (tie)

Paul Pierce looks really scary...as if he wants to eat my heart. (Lakers win)

Looks like the Lakers are going to win it in 6. (Keltics win. So far this season, whoever I think (or want) is going to win...lose [Raptors, Cavs, Magic, Suns]. So it looks like I just f***** it up for Lakers fans. SORRY!)

Kobe On The Outside

Kobe on the outside
Kobe on the outside

Lookin' like a fool
With Kobe on the outside
With the bandage on his finger
Bynum's kneed turned sideways
Kobe miss the shot on the outside

Call yourself champs
With Kobe on the outside

Losin' downtown with Kobe on the outside
Celtic Pride!

Hey! Get Kobe to the outside
Lookin like a fool!
Playin' one on five with Kobe on the outside!

Hey! Kobe missing the shots
Jacking up bricks
With Kobe on the outside
With the bandage on your finger
Bynum's knee turned sideways
Call yourself champs?

Kobe's on the outside!

It's not as black and white as you make it sound but yes there is a ridiculous amount of corruption. Calling games in certain ways and certain times and influencing the extension of series. Certain corrupt refs officiating pivotal games. The NBA is pathetic in some ways. I love watching international games because they call the games straight-up. I myself might stop watching. But there are still enough players/teams that I like that I stomach it.

seen some of kobe's interviews the past few days. it looks like the guy is possesed, wouldn't like to be facing this guy.

oh yeah perkings will probably pick up a technical in this series so he will prob also miss a crucial game sooner or later.

still picking the lakers to take this in 6

Boston better play better or it will be a sweep and no I don't think it will be, but I am not lying about them needing to step it up.

Yup, three more games like last night will end it this series quick enough,
though the Celtics showed signs of life in the second half.

Boston actually led once in this game ((HA!)), but LA was never threatened
and on cruise control all the way to the final buzzer.

What are you guys talking about?

I see the word "Boston" in the title of this thread... and figured I would know something about it... but I have no clue wtf you all are yapping about.

I see the word "basketball" too... I vaguely recall something about that.

I kind of have a vague recollection of some sport or something with a ball and a basket that we used to worship here in Boston. There was a guy with an avian name... and his coach had something to do with a color... and there were lots of cigars involved.

this is bullshit, the only games boston will win are the games where the lakers aren't motivated.

its not even close. this is over. lakers wiped the floor with them last night, sad to say but i think the suns-lakers was a tougher match up for LA than this old gang.

This post is just as terrible as your other post. The truth is that the Lakers played a bit better than the Celtics in Game 1. So from that standpoint, it's just as well. But Joey Crawford and his company men reffing in Game 1? It was BS. There was a foul call against Ray Allen where Kobe leaned his shoulder into him on a drive and Ray held his ground, moved his feet like basketball players are taught to do and all's Kobe could do was fade away and shoot an airball. The refs called a foul. On the play before that they called a b.s. foul on T Allen against Kobe. Four free throws for nothing when the Celts were in the midst of mounting a comeback. You can't comeback when you're playing 5 on 8. It just almost never happens. There was another play where the ref literally watched the ball go out of bounds and he let the Lakers keep playing and make a fastbreak. Cheesy fouls on Perkins, Ray Ray and this crap was going on all night long.

Expect the Celtics to likely win Game 2 and then this will be a best 3 of 5 series with the first 3 in Boston. Anybody that figures the Lakers are so much better when the Celts played like crap and the refs suck need to get their heads straight. Seriously, you're nothing but a homer drinking haterade.

Lakers > Celtics

MT has spoken...Lakers in 6 or 7

But if you want facts: When Phil Jackson's team wins game 1 of playoffs = 47-0 record for the series

That foul call against Ray Allen was bad, but it wasn't worth 13 points.

Man, I feel bad for you and all the other Celtics fans. I mean sure you have to be happy that you de-throned the king and got to the finals again, but your team is so over matched its not even funny. You have no one, just wanna repeat it again NO ONE that can guard Kobe, he is gonna get what he wants, when he wants it. Gasol was moving through the vaunted D so seamlessly it was not even funny, picking up boards and easy buckets. Artest is lock down, and oh yea, you let a hurt bum in Bynum eat you up in game 1. Perkins is a bum that plays dirty D and loves throwing elbows, I loved listening to all the C fans bitch when he got caught with a couple from Howard...I love Jesus Shuttlesworth but hes gonna have to work to hard on D to really be effective on O. PP is a wanna be bad ass, who looks like a donkey...he will get his 20+ a game but unless you get 20+ a game out of the Big "loud mouth" Ticket it will be over fast.

I could write about how the lakers are better all day, and I don't even like them....lol

Lakers in 5(said 6 before game 1, but it was clear that the Cs are a joke and may just steal one game)

Got to love that officiating in game 2....looks like Stern wants $$$$$ making sure the series goes to 6 or 7

Not sure what team was going to win but some of those calls made sure the Celtics got the win...absolutely disgusting calls

They were, but the foul calls against the Lakers took Kobe completely out of the game. His 4th (or was it 5th?) for "pushing" Rondo out of bounds was a joke. He literally didn't even touch him.

And with Kobe unable to drive on offense or defend on defense, the game was over late in the 4th.

Yea, because its pretty clear they are by far the superior team...if jesus does not go off last night its not even a close game. Garnett was a non factor, and so was Pierce. Rondo is gonna do his thing every night but the rest of that squad are a bunch of chumps. Also don't know why Nasty Nate does not get more time, that kid can fill it up. EVERY time Farmer and Vujiac come into the game I'd be giving Nate minutes..esp over that scrub Wallace.
