Well you don't have to take my word for it, I'm just one person and just gave my personal opinion. I think your map has potential, and could be a great map if you would follow my advice in my previous post.... but like I said that's just my opinion.

Perhaps I will continue to think on the matter. I do like Industrial Helix's suggestion that led me down the road of an alternate time-line.

Maybe someone will be inspired by the ideas presented to help me come up with an interesting pseudo-semi-historical-what-if story line that will be both interesting and fun to play.

I'd be more interested if the alternate world made more historical sense. Zulu's in the Saudi peninsula and not in Zululand just is a real turn off for me.

Give it some plausibility and I'd be more interested.

What about the "point in time" suggestion? Is it NECESSARY to start from a point in time and develop the story from there? Or is it acceptable to use different cultures from different times (assuming a more geographical reality i.e. Zulus stay in S. Africa)?

I think that its not really necessary to start from a certain point in time. It could be anytime as long as the theme is there.

Even though its another world map its an amazing concept, one which I would like to play. Perhaps you could add to the map different pieces of culture so have like a digeridoo or boomerang somewhere in the aborigine and mayan temples wherever?

I think I know what you're saying. Do you mean objectives to hold for bonuses like in the Age of Merchants map? That is an interesting idea.

If you really want to make a world map, rather than your world map, consider taking inspiration from http://althistory.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

You also menton similar gameplay to classic. How can you achieve that with only 5 continents?

Thanks for the link. There is some interesting material there that could inspire a back-story.

Ok, I have been reading some real and some alternate history to come up with something interesting. I need a little help here, any comments/suggestions/collaboration welcome.

Let's start with the year 453, the year Attila the Hun died. In our story, Attila does not die of a drunken bloody nose choking incident. Instead he lives to continue conquering to a ripe old age. Where does he go? What happens in the world after that?
