what she said, its random unless it is manual freestyle 1vs 1. Then the last one to drop is not the first untill half the normal time has passed (12 hours or 2.5 minutes in speed games)

I found out that most of the time I am playing with another opponent 1 vs 1, and I go (unfortunately for me) in second place.
Most of the time I don't create the games but join existing ones.
I want to know what are the policies for deciding which player goes first, for example, totally random (Coin flipping), ranking of the player, host of the game, previous history of games, etc. any input will be appreciated!

Statistically speaking, if it was really random, Red should be 50% of the time the first player on 1/1 games... Green too. If you have played 100 games, it might not be representative, but if you played 3000, there is no doubt it should show around that number. Maybe something like 49.7% or 51.2%. Over time the more rolls you do, the more the % will balance.
But I have found, over the large amount of 1/1 I've played, that it's mostly the Red player that goes first. I'd say it's approximately 67% of the time that the first player is Red. I calculated that with my own games. Maybe if someone else could do the math as well, that would confirm or not my own stats.
Now, with that said, they probably won't admit that at CC, but the numbers speak for themselves.
So try to start games and then see how often you start first... you'll see.
